"Isabel & Tess - Blood Road.
Part 1 of 4"
Transcribed from the
truly awful to-translate handwritten documents provided by
'Dawn the Last Slayer' in
her fall of 2001 and later from the "Buffy-is-Real"
dimension (corresponds to
summer and later in the "Buffy-is-TV" dimension) -
-Editor: Glory (Gloriana).
- Dawn's original title was
always "Blood Road"
Comment: There
have been provided several versions of what actually happened
at the portal tower 5/22/01,
Apparently the portal-driven mergings caused some
confusion in the initial
months that were later sorted out as new information was
uncovered and incorporated
into "Dawn the Last Slayer's" narratives.
This work details the arrival
of the two new Roswell supergirls in L.A. after their ferocious
battle with Buffy in Sunnydale
for a sample of Dawn's Key Blood. What they meet in
L.A is a surprise at every
turn. They repeatedly open or incite others to open,Pandora's box.
Forever changing the future
they and the others will live in.

They stepped out from beside the building.
Tess put one of the now four, partially filled magic-protected bottles
of Dawn's Key blood back
into her flat purse and readjusted the shoulder strap as she hefted
her bag..
It had only taken one drop to open the walk-thru portal, plus their
combined powers in a carefully
worded spell refined months before by Curupira/Tess and Dawn for their
own travels here to this
place.
Wherever this place was.
It was noisy and there was lots of traffic on the next cross street. There
were some multistory
buildings and more lower ones. Curupira and Tess had, her pilfered
memories indicated,
also done such jumping before the portal event.
"This sure isn't Sunnydale!" Isabel looked and sat her bag down on the
grass beside the sidewalk
and looked around.
Her normal action, Tess noticed.
"Maybe there's no Sunnydale here, or maybe the spell was designed to
go to here directly,"
Tess theorized. She looked for a street sign. The one she saw wasn't
special to any particular
city. "Warm for fall, big, lots of cars. Looks like Southern California
still...see the license plates..
and that van with Los Angeles on it ?"

Tess was observant, as usual.
Tess was observant, as usual...Actually,
Tess liked her bossiness most of all.

One of the personality traits that Isabel found so endearing in her
'new' sister. She wondered if she
herself had any endearing qualities that Tess thought were cute. Loyalty...maybe?
Actually, Tess liked her bossiness most of all.
Being the Warrior, the Princess and the sister of her Queen, she was
delighted to do whatever
Isabel said, now that she could openly do so. Mostly she just liked
having a sister who'd saved
her from a slow stasis death under the granilith chamber.
ED- See "Three Days in Roswell, Part 4"
for Tess' rescue by the bestowed Isabel. Plus the
unintended
parallel mindprobe/mindwalk mediated bestowals on the duplicitous
Lonnie/Vilandra outside and
the 'other dimensional' Isabel Evans in one of the adjacent
stasis rooms.
Tess had wandered a bit farther from Isabel.
"There," Tess signaled and waved her hand. "Let's rent a car. We'll
never get anywhere
walking in L.A. "Uh...it's my turn to drive, right?"
They walked down and over two blocks to the the car rental place, stopping
before they reached it.
"We'll need a credit card that works here," Tess deduced. "Can you
clone the magnetic stripe from
one that's being used ahead of us and put it on my card?"
Isabel wiggled her fingers, "Naturally," she said.
"OK, then," I'll alter all the information to integrate it with mine.
Then put a little spell on it so they won't
notice anything that's not the same, like the card numbers and name
stuff versus the swipe info."
Tess sounded like she'd done this before, just maybe not all at once
while in line.

Isabel frowned. "But that's like stealing from a innocent person. Why
don't we use it, and then decide
to pay in cash?"
Tess laughed. "Isabel, sweetie, your money's one dollar bills made into
20's and 100's by
your powers. They're counterfeit!"
Isabel responded defensively, "It's as good as the original it was copied
from, maybe better. Just
helping the economy run smoother..."
This was one of their tour de forces, manufacturing objects with information
on them. Both had
extensive histories of doing this back in Roswell. Having additional
magic powers now, they'd gotten
even more sophisticated by practicing in the car on the long drive
to Sunnydale.
They did it Isabel's way without a hitch and Tess took the keys.
"Sure you want to drive in all the traffic?" Isabel said. She was a
little concerned herself.

"We could stay off the bigger streets..." Tess suggested
Isabel had asked for and gotten a street map that they spread out in
the car before they started out.
"We're here. And we want to go there," she announced, pointing.
"What's there?" Tess looked both ways before she pulled out of
the lot. "Isabel, which way? I hope it's
not left, there's so much traffic..."
"Go right then, we'll circle the block to a light," Isabel worried about
Tess. She had the seat adjusted
all the way forward and as high as she could get it. Her car in Roswell
had been a smaller one than this
car.

She needn't have worried. Tess was a supergirl, though a tiny one.
In fact she droveawfully fast,
Isabel thought. "Where's there?" Tess asked again as she turned right
to circle the block like Isabel
had said.
Isabel relaxed. "The only useful address in L.A. that I can dredge out of our stolen memories."
"We don't know anyone in L.A. though, do we...not in this dimension?
What address?" Tess was too
busy driving to sort through the jumbled minor memories she'd acquired
from Isabel in her own
bestowal.
So she tried a little organizing spell of her own concept as she listened to Isabel.
"I'm talking of the one place we know of that might be interesting to
visit. The address that Curupira
and Tess' memories say that they visited in L.A. Something about
the host for Glory, the Clare
girl's sister, or Clare herself?. Her sister who vanished at the portal
opening mergings." Isabel held
onto the door as Tess raced out for the left turn from the light.

"What, dear Isabel," Tess observed, "If this isn't the right L.A.?
There were at least three dimensions.
They could have been visiting the one that Glory and Ben were from,
the woman on the tower's
dimension. Whatever she is."

[Ed- Actually, there were four similar dimensions.
The two current ones (Buffy-is-Real"
and "Buffy-is-TV") and two more that merged. In spite of Tess'
following logic, it's still not clear
which one Clare and her sister came from. It's even possible that they
came from separate
dimensions and were mixed together accidentally, or on purpose, by Curupira
and Tess to
ensure that they had an alternate in case one backed out or something went
wrong, as it did.
After all, Tess and her mindwarp were always available. Curupira
also had an analogous
power. Holly and Glory maybe more.
One factor the girls were unaware of at the time was that there apparently
was another Clare,
and Emilie de Ravin, native to the Buffy-is-Real dimension. The two unknowns
are contracted
to be the stars of Holly's diversionary cable/satellite TV movie, "God
& Demons", a separate
fictional listed work of DTLS, as noted in the next work, "The
Twins - Sukkhal the God-Killers".
"Why would they need Dawn's blood then?" Isabel pressed her feet into
the floor as Tess braked
at the last minute. "Slow down, hon. Two more blocks, then a right."
"Maybe they started out here and had to go back to find the right host?
How would she know
which dimension she came from? It wouldn't matter afterward. Maybe
they just didn't tell
her.. them."
Tess finally found the snippet of memory information that had been eluding her.
"I have a memory of a drop of blood ceremony with Glory, both sisters,
Tess and Curupira, and
someone in the shadows, all in a circle. But they only made one portal
jump to the warehouse
near the tower. Why make two?" she turned right.
"But when they fled after the merging, only this dimension was left
to portal to that was similar."
Tess looked over for more directions.
Isabel pointed straight ahead. "Lots of blocks."
"Isabel," Tess said firmly, "Clare and her sister were from the same
dimension as Glory, Ben, their
Tess and the woman on the tower...Polly, no... Holly. They had no other
choice but to come here
after the dimensions merged, to flee what they feared might be the
successful Glory's immediate
return..."
She stopped at a light, again at the last second.

"... and to get the girl pregnant so that this 'weaker' Glory could
then bestow immortality on
her and him...her... whatever. The memories are confusing about that."
"Weaker, my sweet ass!" Isabel rejoined emotionally. "That little pregnant
bitch nearly beat me to
death!"
"Would've, even though I was immortal and supposedly invulnerable, I
thought. Guess a god can
change the rules. So I had to dream up the wall and ceiling walking
and get away from her for
awhile. It still bothers me how she managed to pick it up so fast and
then do it herself."
[Ed - As we found out in "Three Days in Roswell"
and "Three Days in Sunnydale", it was actually Clare working
new magic from inside that saved Glory, herself and the baby from Isabel's
desperately formidable initial
battle with Glory. Clare's immediate reward, probably mostly from the god-girl
baby Gloriana, was to be
transformed cell-by-cell, via the umbilical, from a mere immortal into
a neophyte god herself. At least that was
Glory's interpretation afterward. And she should know.

"Anyway," Tess continued, "So, at this address, we'll find someone
who didn't get conned into the
first portal jump, or it'll be empty, or maybe even re-leased. Sounds
like a fine mystery. Maybe a
place to sleep if it's still leased or rented to her or them. Maybe
I could mindwarp our way into moving
in."
"Turn left here into that restaurant parking lot. Don't go on to the
apartment building ahead or into the
lane that leads to the underground parking. There's a card access machine
there, I see."
Isabel instructed.
Tess did and turned off the key.
"Now," Isabel looked at Tess after scanning the area, "All we know is
the street address. I have no
memory of where inside that multistory building to go. We may have
to mindprobe our way to the
apartment."
Since it was almost lunch time for them, Tess pointed to the restaurant.

"Yeah, we better eat." Isabel eyed the the sign. "Looks like a Chinese
restaurant...buffet...all you can
eat..."
Tess laughed her liquid laugh, "They're about to be bankrupted. I could eat a horse - on the hoof."
"Disgusting," Isabel made a noise. "You know they eat horses in France,
don't you?" She teased
her sister. "I wonder if we have to keep eating like this forever,
or if it tapers off after all the body
changes are complete and our magic reserves are pretty well full?"
She followed Tess to the restaurant door.
Inside, they sat in a booth just to the left of the front door, by the
window of the almost linear layout
restaurant.
"How do we keep this table?" Isabel asked the Asian girl clearing the
next table. She pointed to an
A-shaped sign lying on its side on the table with something in
Chinese characters on it.
"Reserved, " she said, turning it around to show the English letters
on the other side.
Isabel thanked her, to her and the girl's amazement, in accented Mandarin.
She bowed slightly
in acknowledgment and left.
"I understood that too!" Tess said excitedly. "I can read the Chinese
characters now, too!" she marveled.
"This is really weird. Was Curupira some sort of master linguist -
she was from another dimension
entirely, right?"
Isabel had no answer.

Not knowing what else to do, they sat the reserved sign at the end
of the table and and picked up their
plates at the start of the large buffet area to the right of the long
row of red and gold booths that stretched
into the back where there was a table area.
The door to the kitchen seemed to be back there somewhere, by the little bar.
While Isabel was dumping three separate sauces in different piles on
her heaping plate, Tess said
softly, "I can understand 3 different dialects of Chinese and 4 different
languages being spoken in
this room. It has to be magic."
Back at the table, the two sisters sat down their mountainous plates
and went to get something to
drink and a couple of desserts apiece. They got a pot of green tea
with cups from the passing
hot tea cart, and Isabel bought a bottle of apricot wine and picked
up two little glasses from the small
bar.
She also paid their bill in advance at the cashier's.
Tess sat opposite the front window, with its several Chinese charactered
signs stuck to it on the inside.
So she could see past the steadily eating Isabel. "Umm, good stuff,"
Tess said, as she began eating,
appreciating her increased senses regarding food tastes.
They were richer and more complex. She could taste every nuance and
every spice separately, and yet
savor their combination. This was new since their last meal. Isabel
winked an eye at her and Tess knew
she was experiencing the same thing.

It was true with the wine and the green tea also.
Both were also using chopsticks as if they'd been born with them in their hands.
After awhile, both girls paused and relaxed. "Where does all this food
go? I haven't...you know...gone in
two days..." Isabel nodded. "At least we now know why Curupira was
able to fit in so quickly. She, and
we, can permanently acquire languages and cultural traits by quick
magic. Intriguing," she waved her
chopsticks, "Must be that's how a god or near-god fits in so quickly."
[Ed- While seeming pointless, DTLS' inclusion of
this restaurant narrative serves to illustrate the casual powers
that Curupira and, by extension, her bestowal progeny, possess.
It helps explain how both Glorys were able
to function so easily in the dimension(s) they found themselves in. These
language powers were to prove quite
useful in the upcoming encounters with both the Sukkhal sisters,
the Enkum , the Anunnaki and the biological
android gallu, which we today call the alien grays.
More details of these future events are in the "Comprehension
Preview" and the "Comprehension Preview Addendum " works.
Nothing DTLS includes is without purpose.
At that moment an older Chinese couple at the next table commented to
the girls directly, Tess
immediately turned and responded in a lengthy conversation in their
own dialect, to their utter
amazement.
Bowing her head slightly, she turned to Isabel, who'd not been following this but had resumed eating.
Speaking in Mandarin to isabel, Tess explained, "They find us cute.
That we eat so much and are
still so slender and beautiful - and that we can speak their language
so well." Tess laughed. Isabel
responded casually in the same dialect. "Beautiful, you say." She raised
her voice and thanked the
couple herself, adding a compliment for their courtesy.
Tess had been ruminating on all this and was slowly drinking a glass
of the apricot wine. "Now about
gods," she said in a very low voice to Isabel.
"What, " she speculated, "If a pure god like Glory, in her own body,
is all magic? Not the magic we think
we know about". Isabel sipped her hot tea and listened to Tess. "But
a magic so beyond it that it's
pure energy, but we call it magic, for lack of a better term. But they
have to interact with the world of
matter, so they have to make a material identity, a body...become a
real person."
Isabel looked long at Tess. This was pretty deep stuff.
Tess paused as she realized that one of the signs in the window behind
Isabel was in Chinese characters,
but the language was Japanese. She'd not known that before. Another
was in the abbreviated set
of characters used for publications.
"...And," she resumed her train of thought and speech, "That would mean
that pure gods have a reality
beyond the physical. More of that than..." She sat the empty glass
down suddenly.
"My God," she exclaimed. "That means..."
Copyright
© 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
Isabel finished it for her, "Tess, honey, that's what they all been
saying to us. Gods can never die in their
reality. They can, given the help of another god in the physical world,
rebuild their bodies. That's what
Buffy was saying about us. We're sort of almost gods, and if we die
physically, we need a physically
present god to resurrect us."
"I saw Glory resurrecting that Tess in the Crashdown...after what I
did to her...to save you," she hurriedly
added before Tess questioned her motives.
They let this sink in.
"Yes, Tess," Isabel refilled hers and Tess' tea and wine. "This whole
thing in our memories from Curupira/
Tess about being able to kill Glory while she was in her host Ben was
more crap. Something else is going
on..." Isabel thought aloud, "'course, we don't know how long rebuilding
takes. Tess still was alive, but
apparently on the cusp of dying, and that resurrection only took a
short time."
Tess guessed, "Maybe it was sheer disinformation to mislead those searching for either Glory."
"...and we're going to find out, I'm also guessing..." Isabel
nodded slowly. "But if either Glory succeeded
and the other totally failed in regaining her full powers at the tower,
the other could ensure that there
was a sympathetic twin eventually that would rebuild or resurrect the
other."
"In effect they could be backups, contingencies for one another."
"Except," Isabel spoke slowly, "They don't know this and plot against
one another, knowingly or unknowingly.
One succeeds with guile and Buffy's betrayal, the other fails and has
an unexpected new female host
pregnancy long term backup plan of her own. It could be faster than
raw body rebuilding
though...
"...If the two of them had been working together, what a different outcome..." Tess finished.
This speculating went on for awhile and the two girls had a couple more desserts and more tea and wine.
The end result was that both agreed that they were not running any more,
but starting an investigation
of their own. They now had a purpose beyond fleeing the wrath of either
Glory, and possibly the
lure of discovering information that could be traded for the protection
of one or the other of the two
gods.
They left the restaurant
and walked over to the next block to the somewhat gated apartment building.
where
someone had lived,
or was living, that was linked to the Glory Mystery, as they had decided
to call it.
On the way they'd
had fun being able to read and understand the various languages they encountered
in the newspapers,
flyers and in the windows. "Pretty useful power that just kicked in for
us," Isabel
commented while
reading a newspaper in Cyrillic. Somewhere nearby had to be someone that
read
and spoke the language.
Now she and Tess did.
"I wonder if Curupira
told anyone about this or if anyone else got this power like we did..."
Tess stooped
slightly to scoop
up a flyer in faded English that was blowing across the sidewalk. She'd
stepped on it
with her strappy
white left shoe and held it in her hand as Isabel read another aloud to
her.
Looking at it, something
nagged at her mind - her fragmented Curupiran/Tess memories. She read
it aloud to Isabel,"
Angel
- We Help. Hyperion Hotel, Los Angeles. "Wasn't Angel that vampire
that
Buffy used to pine
after long before she went with Glory?"
Isabel stopped and looked at it, with its outline of a snow angel at the top.
"That's not very
clear in my copy of the memories, but, regardless, he's not supposed to
be in this
dimension. At least
now now." She was remembering the shadowy figure in the circle for the
original
portal jump to Glory's
tower warehouse. The stolen memories were just not complete.
It could be him.
She tucked the flyer
into Tess' purse, which was so much bigger than hers. "It'll keep for later,"
she
decided. "Our first
mission calls us..."
They looked up at
the 4 story building, the gated card entry at the side street for the underground
parking and the
carded front entrance lobby. "Probably the same card," Tess deduced. "Ready
to
copy the magnetic
stripe of the next one that enters to one of my cards?"
"We better go in
the front walk-in entrance and not get our car trapped inside if something
goes wrong,"
Isabel suggested.
This was old hat
by now. They were experts at it, even resizing Tess' card to fit
the narrower insert
slot. They laughed
and made small talk as they walked the path up to the actual entrance to
the
building, where
Tess used the card again.
Isabel smiled broadly
at the male security guard at a desk against the wall. "Cute guy," she
glanced
back at him again
as they neared the elevators.
"Down, girl," Tess laughed. "It's the uniform. He's married. I saw the ring."
"Spoilsport," Isabel slapped playfully at her shoulder. "You do have sharp eyes."
"Nice place for unattached
girls," Tess watched them getting out of the elevator as they got in and
went to the second
floor where they could nose around more openly. "We have no idea of the
room number or even
the floor..."
Both sisters fit
the profile of the occasional girl or girl pack they saw in the hall of
the second floor.
Being after lunch,
some were apparently leaving or just returning from some odd acting or
other
job. They'd seen
only one guy, and he'd been getting in the elevator as they got out.
Isabel casually asked
the next trio of girls, a redhead and two blondes, "We've lost Clare's
room number she
gave us before we parked our car downstairs and she came in ahead of us."
"Clare, " the redhead
said, "Little, long blonde hair, big smile? Sure," she looked at the other
girls,
one of whom said,
"Top floor, I don't know the room though. She'll probably be looking for
you
anyway."
The third added,
"Sometimes she has light red hair..." "Blonde," the redhead disagreed.
They began
talking to one another
about who was right, totally forgetting their questioners. Revising down
her
original low estimate,
an annoyed Isabel decided that all together they barely made a full wit.
Tess laid a mild
mindwarp on them, probably unnecessarily, to forget they'd seen her and
Isabel,
then they began
looking for the stairs to the 4th floor. After finding them, they fast-stepped
up
to the top floor.
Now they stood in the H-shaped floor plan at the center hall of the "H".
This was
where the elevators
and stairs were.
"What now?" Tess asked.
"We could knock on each door," Isabel started, "Or not," she decided.
"What about her DNA scent?" wouldn't it be like the Clare you 'met' in Roswell, "Tess suggested.
"Only if our theory
is correct. Though these three girls seemed to be certain," Isabel replied,
"A real reason to
be skeptical," she added sarcastically.
"But we should try all our magical senses," she agreed.
Isabel closed her
eyes and imagined herself able to hear the faintest sounds, especially
those in
the higher feminine
register. Tess reached out to hold her forearm. "Oops," she was getting
the
same magic results
as Isabel had gotten, even without invoking whatever magic she had initiated.
It was like a dozen
or so girls talking at once, Tess decided. Like high school, she smiled.
Still holding onto
Isabel's arm, she added a twist to the spell, power, filtering, whatever,
by
tuning out all but
the loudest.
"That's it," Isabel
said quietly. "I'll do the listening for us, you explore the rooms by walking
down
the halls so we
can locate the most likely one." Tess detached herself and still had no
problem
integrating the
spell with her sister. As she passed each room, the other voices faded
out and
she would pause
to see what they were talking about and classify the voice.
In a few cases there
was music or TV, but most were talking on phones or to one another. Or
they
were empty. Tess
marked empty apartment doors with a spot of lipstiick applied on the door
near
the floor, where
it would not be noticed.
It was the 8th voice.
She was talking on the phone. The voice was identical to the Clare's in
the Crashdown, based
on Isabel's transferred memories. Turning, she waved to Isabel, who slipped
quickly up to her.
Her face showed excitement.
"So quickly. Lets see what's behind..." she looked at the ornate number
"...door number
414."
"Knock or break it down?" Tess offered her choices.
Isabel smiled at her Warrior sister and knocked politely on the pale green door.
They heard the sounds of two deadbolts being thrown...
A Glory redhead
flung open the door and pulled them both inside so powerfully that both
girls
were sent flying
through the air across the room and hit the off-white sofa approximately
where
she'd been aiming!
Closing the door,
she blurred to near invisibility and was there as they bounced on the cushions.
She sat on Isabel's
back and held Tess by her long blond hair. Both girls were trying vainly
to blur,
but somehow they
seemed to be powerless against this Glory.
Isabel's inherent fear of Glory was realized again. A sense of terror filled her.
Tess was valiantly
trying to pull at the redhead's arms, but it was like yanking on a railroad
rail, in
spite of her own
superstrength. The grip on her hair also hurt, which wasn't supposed to
be
possible to a Curupiran
supergirl, she thought - unless this was a third god Glory.
In which case they were apparently doomed.
"Calm down you two,
whatever you are and I may not kill you!" She brushed the bunching out
of
her red dress and
with the other hand shook the tiny Tess a little by her grip on her hair.
Tess managed a massive
brain shutdown mindwarp at Glory that would have dropped an elephant
in one step.
She ignored it. "Well, little one. At least I know you're not a vampire,
but a demon of
some sort. Stop
wasting your energies, sweetie. You can't touch me, but you might melt
your own
mind."
Tess stopped.
She sniffed Tess'
closest ear. "Immortal, too. And lots of things I don't know there, too,"
she said in a
slightly singing
voice, as she were enjoying the diversion. "Nice perfume, too."
With a supreme effort
Isabel had managed to rise to her knees and elbows with the redhead still
seated sidesaddle
on her back.
Without loosening
her grip on Tess's hair, she blurred, turned and locked her legs around
Isabel's
waist, facing backward
on the big blonde. She squeezed powerfully. Isabel groaned in pain. Tess
struggled at her
sister's agony, to no avail.
"I believe I told
you to be still, blondie!" she turned Tess' head around and looked closely
into her
big gray eyes. "Pretty
gray eyes like mine," she commented. "Now tell your squirming friend to
stop
fighting or I'll
strangle you until she does."
isabel immediately
stopped struggling. "It's OK, Honey," she lied to Tess, suppressing the
pain
and her own dread
with difficulty.
"Better... 'Honey',
huh?... Lovers?" she looked into Tess' eyes again. "Tell me, 'Honey', what're
your
names and what're
you really?... All the truth now, 'Honey'."
Tess haltingly started,
"Tess Harding. That's me. Me and my sister, Isabel...Evans are from Roswell,
New Mexico. We only
recently discovered we were also demons of some exotic sort. We thought
we
were alien hybrids
only. We have newer superpowers we acquired sort of by accident...well,
Isabel
stole them from
a demon-merged supergirl."
"Isabel fought the pregnant god Glory to save me..."
"Whoa, whoa, 'Honey',"
the redhead said. "This is pretty deep stuff. Sisters? I can understand
this,"
she relaxed her
leg lock on Isabel and her pressure of Tess' hair a bit. She ran one of
her black-nailed
fingers down Tess'
creamy throat, feeling for her pulse. Surprised by the slow beat.
She looked around
at Isabel under her, "Fought a god and still you're here? Hard to believe,
especially since
real gods don't get pregnant."
"Fat lot you know,
red," Isabel snorted, beginning to wonder if this really was another Glory.
"The
little bitch-god
Glory beat the crap out of me and I was supposed to be immortal and invulnerable
after acquiring
the powers..."
"...What'd you call her?" the redhead suddenly cut in.
"Glory. There's actually
two of them we found out. One's superpowerful and the other's in a host
named
Clare, who actually
is the pregnant one. But I saw them morph and Glory's definately pregnant.
Maybe
6 months. Our stolen
memories say that neither have navels...if that means anything..."
The redhead made
a sharp intake of breath, "Natural gods!...We thought they'd all been destroyed
long ago by the
the Anunnaki. Where are they?"
Tess, sensing a sea
change in the redhead's attitude responded, "Sunnydale, California. Both
look exactly
like you, Glory.
Aren't you a god, too?" she also sensed something was amiss in their initial
identification.
"Glory? My name's Callie, C-A-L-L-I-E," she spelled it out. "I'm no god..."
"Tess, wasn't that
the name of the host's sister? The original one that vanished when the
dimensional
portals opened?"
Isabel was unsure. Tess answered, "My Curupiran merged memories..."
Callie was becoming
very puzzled at what she had captured. "What's...Curupiran? What's this
merging
mean?"
Tess explained to
her briefly about Buffy and Dawn, the Vampire Slayers, and what she thought
was
adequate to tell
her. Since she was no god, maybe she wasn't going to kill them.Callie seemed
most
excited about the
two Glorys. "Curupira's a near-god demon from another dimension. She's
the ultimate
source of our and
the others superpowers."
Then she had to tell her about Buffy-Anne.
"Fricking, fracken,
f.....," Callie spat out. "There were legends about them putting little
minds into their
barely biological
androids that were human-like to allow for conscious thought. But
we do know about
vampire slayers,
our ancestors've crossed paths with them. We ignore them They're
simple, useful
vampire and bad
demon killers."
"We do that too, when our primary prey's unavailable, as it's been for many, many generations now."
"Clare, that's C-L-A-R-E,"
she spelled it out, suspecting that the other one was also spelled the
same.
"Please come out
here. It's just a pair of very peculiar, but harmless demon sisters."
The blonde lookalike
came out of a hallway where she'd obviously been waiting in case she was
needed.
She wore blue. With
a pale blue top. She had on sandals Tess turned in Callie's grip to stare
at her
as best she could.
Isabel turned her head and looked also.
"But
we do know about vampire slayers...They're simple, useful vampire and
bad
demon killers...We do that too, when our primary prey's unavailable..."
The Sukkhal Twins:

"It's true," Tess
asserted vigorously. "How many dimensional clones of Glory and Clare are
there?"
You're not fraternal
twins, aren't you?"
Clare nodded, walking
over and sniffing Isabel, then Tess "Strange and impossible combination
of
things we know and
things we don't know," she pronounced
She and her sister were close to Tess' face. "Look," Tess craftily responded
to an earlier question,"We're
from another dimensions and others have merged. We're from another
similar one and got here using the
Blood of the Key..."
Both girls responded instantly...
Clare struck Tess and Callie tightened her legs on Isabel, forcing her
breath out in a whoosh. Clare had
swung a powerful fist into Tess' face, but Tess had already been doing
some very subtle magic and
the blow slid off her face and only stung.
"The Key?" both said together, as if they'd practiced it often.
"Simple magic..." Tess got out in Korean to Isabel. Both Twins struck her simultaneously in the face, hard.
Her magic was no help and it hurt. Isabel had gotten the message though.
Tess deliberately bit her tongue
and spit out blood onto Clare's blue wraparound tube-lihe top, causing
her to step back a few paces.
"You messy little bitch!" she looked around for something to clean off the blood before it soaked in.
Isabel managed to wiggle her left hand from her trapped position. Clare's
clothes dissolved into powder -
all her clothes. She was a natural blonde. Looking around, surprised,
to see who had done this, the now
naked Clare made a decision and kicked Isabel in the throat. Her sandals
were still intact, buckles and
all.
Isabel grunted in pain.
Callie was actually laughing at the scene of her sister suddenly clothesless.
She stopped laughing when Tess reached out and jammed a small fist into
her open mouth and partly
down her throat. Gagging and choking, she released Tess and fell off
Isabel onto the floor, knocking
Clare down.
Freed from touching her twin, Isabel blurred and grabbed the blonde,
never stopping her blur until she
also had as much of her fist into Clare's mouth as would fit.
Both Roswell girls stuck other fingers into the girls' nostrils and
wound up sitting atop both just
below their boobs. "Look's like they still have to breath," Tess observed.
"And they're not immortals,"
she said. "Pulse rate's too high."
"But your twin blurred," Isabel noted, extracting her fingers a second so the blonde could breath once.
"Yeah," Tess pulled her fist out of Callie's throat and let her also
take a breath. "Still, what the
hell are they?"
Both twins immediately stopped resisting when they realized that
the two were going to allow them to
breathe and their conversation was so casual it seemed non-lethal.
The Roswell girls exchanged looks
and licked their lips in a signal.
Tess and isabel leaned over, quickly removed their somewhat wet fists
and kissed their twin on the mouth
for a count of three. Then they stood up, simply walked back to the
sofa and sat down. Isabel wiped the
blood from Tess' mouth and cheek and made her open her mouth so she
could varify that she was healed.
Neither twin was able to sit up without nearly fainting. Callie's mouth
and cheek was smeared from Tess'
bloody kiss. Both were pale as ghosts.
"You two girls come on over here and sit with us," Isabel invited them as if nothing had happened.
Finally, they helped one another to their knees and crawled over to
the other end of the sofa, pulling
themselves up weakly to collapse on it, warily staying on the other
end with a cushion between them and
Tess.
"Simple magic," Tess lied. "You'll be better soon, though."
She tossed the unused cushion to Clare, who used it to partially cover her front.
Tess and isabel exchanged knowing looks. Actually it had been an impromptu
test to see if they could extract
life energy from these non-immortal supergirls. Sort of a preliminary
kiss that could have led to the Curupiran
Kiss of Death, which they had been eager to practice as perhaps some
sort of defense against either of the
gods Glory.
"Now that we've established that we're all four rather dangerous to
one another," Isabel began laying out the
rules as if she were in a classroom, "We don't attack one another.
We discuss the Key and all other topics
like adults and we treat one another with some level of respect. We've
killed vampires also, so we sort
of have the same hobby."
"Say, yes," Tess leaned closer to Callie. Both said "Yes," again in disturbing unison.
Then they spoke rapidly to one another in some polysyllabic language.
It took Tess and Isabel only a few
seconds to magically understand it. It was a language that was not
a modern one. The Twins were talking
about the Key and something about dimensions and centuries. Isabel
and Tess pretended to be unable
to understand them while Isabel retrieved her purse from the floor
nearby.
Callie finally turned and asked,"The Key. What do you know of the Key?"
"It's in Sunnydale also," Tess answered. "What's your concern?...'Honey'."
The reaction was imediate. "We...our ancestors... have been looking
for it for almost 8 centuries." Clare
was rather animated and dropped her cushion. "It belongs to us!"
"Crap and little blue devils," she then cursed in their strange language
without realizing she'd switched
from English.
Isabel decided this was the time fo tell them what they knew from their
Curupiran/Tess memories. "One of the
Slayers is the Key in human form. We used old samples of her blood
to jump to this dimension only a few
hours ago."
This time the Twins other language discussion was inaudible, because,
perhaps sensing the girls might
be somehow able to decipher their conversation, they whispered into
one another's ears so rapidly that it was
just a buzz to Isabel and Tess, even with their Curupiran super senses.
Tess wiggled her fingers magically with another subtle spell to gain
access to their voices and whispered to
Isabel, "These girls are speaking the same language as before. but
somehow encrypting it as they speak.
Maybe via still another language's sounds that are being used to encode
the first language."
"Is that even possible?" Isabel was fixing her hair, looking into the mirror from her purse.
"These twins are something extraordinary, maybe it's normal for them.
Definately not like the ones
we ran into downstairs," Tess settled back on the sofa and looked around
the room. All the furniture
was a soft shade of white, trimmed with gold lines. A doorway behind
them led to a small balcony patio
through a cramped kitchenette.
The door the blonde had come through was to a hallway of some sort.
One thing she noted quickly was a
pile of men's wallets and some loose cash on the table near the door.
Maybe they were hookers?
That seemed implausible considering their powers, though. Pickpockets?
Maybe.
Finally, the Twins turned to them and began earnestly talking, both at once.
They stopped. And Clare began again, alone. "We're Sukkhal, S-U-K-K-H-A-L,"
she spelled it out
and pronounced it again, "SUE-CALL."
"That's a descriptive title, like' Vampire Slayer'. Loosely translated
it means, 'Those Who Hunt the
Hunters.' We cull out the bad demons and vampires when we can, like
Callie said earlier.... "We're
the Predators of the Predators... among other things," she didn't
elaborate.
She realized she had forgotten the cushion again and picked it up. Callie
started talking in her place,
her reddish curls spilling across her face as she leaned closer to
Tess. "Don't worry," she said cautiously,
"I won't touch you now that I know that it seems to freeze most of
your powers."
"All that means," she explained, "is that the Key's still absorbing
the energies of anyone we fight and
dispersing them harmlessly into all other existing dimensions. Even
while in human form. How long has it
been one of your Slayers?"
Tess and Isabel looked at one another, "Summer over a year ago, Tess
said. "Our memories tell us that
some monks made it into the Slayer's sister. Who later became a Slayer
just after the merging of the
dimensions when one of the gods Glory used it to open all dimensions
so she could escape back to hers
and regain all her godly powers."
This required a long Isabel and Tess attempted summary from their stolen
memories of the events since
that summer. The Twins were listening raptly, hanging on every word
about both Glorys, asking questions
about the Slayer Dawn and the impossible pregnancy of the other Glory
that took a new host named Clare
at the tower.
This took almost an hour. The Twins finally were reasonably satisified
and Clare went to get dressed
while Callie got them some soft drinks.
As the four sipped their cold drinks from the pottery-like mugs Callie
had served them in, Isabel asked
the question that she knew was going to get an answer that neither
she or Tess could anticipate, any
more than the Twins could've for the story Isabel and Tess had told.
"And," Isabel asked, "Just what is the story of the Sukkhal?"
