"Isabel & Tess - Blood Road, Part 2 of 4"

Transcribed from the truly awful to-translate handwritten documents provided by
'Dawn the Last Slayer' in her fall of 2001 and later from the "Buffy-is-Real"
dimension (corresponds to summer and later in the "Buffy-is-TV"  dimension) -

  -Editor: Glory (Gloriana).
 - Dawn's original title was always "Blood Road"

Comment: There   have been provided several versions of what actually  happened
at the portal tower 5/22/01, Apparently the  portal-driven  mergings caused some
confusion  in the initial months that were later sorted out as new  information was
uncovered and incorporated into  "Dawn the Last Slayer's" narratives.

This work details the arrival of the two new Roswell supergirls in L.A. after their ferocious
battle with Buffy in Sunnydale for a sample of Dawn's Key Blood. What they meet in
L.A is a surprise at every turn. They repeatedly open, or incite others to open, Pandora's box.

Forever changing the future they and the others will live in.

Part 2 - "Meet the Sukkhal Sisters"

"And," Isabel asked again, because the Twins were talking to one another in their cryptographic language,
"Just what is the story of the Sukkhal?"

Clare ran back to the hallway and returned in a blurry second or two with an old-fashioned lyre.

She stood proudly and bowed once to them and then to her sister. "There's a prophecy about the Sukkhal,"
she announced. "This day we're privileged to see it begin to come true."

She plucked the strings of the instrument and sang in a surprisingly sweet voice.

First in the polysyllabic ancient language, then in English. The melody was almost hypnotizing, as was
Clare's voice. Callie provided a voiceover commentary when Clare paused in her singing and played
the lyre only.

Callie said, "This is the prophecy of the First Sukkhal, in the years after she killed the god Inanna, who was
resurrected by another Anunnaki god a week later."

Clare sang, looking at the two Roswell girls with half-closed eyes.

The Breath of the Voice of the Morning

"When the Key speaks with the Voice of the Morning,
            And the Two are Sukkhal,
            Then shall Glory beget Glory,
            And Glory surpass glorious.

            Glory. Glory. Glory.

All heralded by the sweet Roses and hidden beyond the holly.
At this time shall the Sukkhal be done with it,
            The Bloody Rosette no more.

             No more.

The Two passing from end to no end,
With the Breath of the Voice of the Morning.

            Breath. Voice. Morning.

Clare closed her eyes and bowed, her long blonde hair spilling almost to the floor with her low bow.

Callie spoke softly, "You see why we were startled by the mention of Glory and the Key. We believe
we're the Two Last Sukkhal. There've never been two at one time before, no twins, no sisters."
she waxed dreamy, her eyes closed. "We believe the 'Voice of the Morning' is 'Dawn the Key-born
Slayer'."

She looked expectantly at Tess and Isabel.

Isabel ventured, "'Glory begetting Glory' is Glory/Clare birthing the god-girl Gloriana, who will be the
future god-body of Glory Hall..."

"...And 'Glory surpassing glorious' must mean Buffy's Glory gets much more powerful. How?", she asked
rhetorically.

Tess made a sighing noise and said, "And we're the 'sweet Roses', the girls from Roswell?"
she marveled. Had they really been foreseen, however dimly, from 10,000 years ago?

It made her shiver.

The Roswell tales, actually mostly lies, about their 'home planet' were nothing compared to what the
very real Twins were about to draw them further into. Tess felt her long latent Warrior senses, honed
by the battle to near death, well - Buffy's death,  with Buffy in Sunnydale, telling her that danger was
all about.

Clare sat down beside Isabel on the arm of the sofa "Our destiny is interlinked with Glory, maybe both
Glorys. Or all three, counting the child. The 'Bloody Rosette' is Inanna, the last surviving Anunnaki god,
our final prey," she took a deep breath.

"And we think Dawn, 'The Key speaking as the Voice of the Morning', will make us immortal at some point,
we hope and beg and pray..."

"Why so desperate?" Tess looked at Callie curiously.

Callie brushed her reddish curls from her face. "You're immortal," she said matter-of-factly. "We're not.
It's our greatest weakness. A Sukkhal can live for several centuries, theoretically, though we're not
immortal. But still having most of the other characteristics of super immortals, like yourselves, anyway."

"Unfortunately, we're blessed, or cursed, from puberty on, with an almost insatiable desire to
get pregnant."

"This was the original way the evil Makers of the First Sukkhal delimited her power. For she was to be
a super assassin, otherwise unkillable, for use in their endless clan wars,  Once pregnant, always
with a girl, the Sukkhal had only about 16 years of power left before it flowed to her daughter, who
became the next Sukkhal."
Copyright © 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
"After that she was simply another long-lived mother." She thought of their own mother, lost, they
now knew, in the mergings the Roswell girls had finally made them aware of.

"The Makers cruelly killed the daughter of the First Sukkhal before her power flowed to the girl.
Thereby holding the mother in thrall for the latest planned assassination of a god as she feared
for the life of her next daughter swelling in her belly."

"The First Sukkhal thwarted this limitation and fled with the Key from the centers of Anunnaki civilization
into the hinderlands of earth. There she bore the Second Sukkhal in secret and empowered her at the
appropriate time."

"Transliterated into English, the first Sukkhal's name would sound a bit like 'Clare'. The surviving daughter
was named after the killed daughter, and sounded like 'Callie'. That has been the tradition for 100 centuries,
'Clare' then 'Callie'. Until now," Callie looked adoringly at her few minutes older sister.

[Ed- We now know that the First Sukkhal was named Klar. And the second Kali. In time these came
to be spelled Clare & Callie in English. Also, from "Another Birthday", we learn that Klar was
immortalized by Tess before bearing the Second Sukkhal. The "Anunnaki" god who resurrected Inanna in
ancient times was none other than Tess, the little Queen of Antar, in her involuntary time sojourn with
Maria and Angie in "Another Birthday". The "hinderlands of earth" are North America, specifically the
area around  where Roswell is today.

At the end of "Another Birthday", the immortal, unbelievably wealthy Klar arrived outside the Sunnydale portal.
She is a key individual the the Pantheon's later business activities and surprises Glory atop the ziggurat
on New Sumer in "Three Queens".

NOTE- This Ed added  as we resumed transcription and uploading of older Works from their manuscripts in June 2003,
after almost 18 months hiatus in the case of "Blood Road". Seeing the DTLS manuscript again is like unrolling
a papyrus dug out of a newly found pyramid niche.]

"The First Sukkhal schooled the Second in the need to kill the gods quickly and without mercy," Callie's
face and voice were intense.

"It would require destroying their bodies in secret so that other gods in the clan could never find them
to resurrect them. It would also take time. It was an audacious plan to rid humankind of their 400,000
plus years of genetic manipulation, cross-breeding and essential enslavement."

"The several planned and unplanned near-exterminations of humans in their periodic clan wars
was a further incentive for the Sukkhal to succeed." Tess and Isabel raised their eyebrows at this.

"The Second Sukkhal began the terrible reign of revenge and terror on the Anunnaki gods that
lasted for 9,000 years, until her myriad descendants had killed all but the resurrected Inanna, the
wariest, understandably - since she was the first slain by the Sukkhal. Iannna was, is, the cleverest
and youngest of the gods."

"She was the second and the last Anunnaki Royal born on earth, maybe 14,000 years ago."

"She fled earth with her veritable god-like technologies and magics, leaving her Gallu biological
androids and Enkum genetically-enhanced demons to shape mankind's future as best they could."

"We believe we're destined to kill Inanna for the second and final time, probably with Glory's help."

Callie was silent. She was thinking of the 10,000 year cycle that had started with the First Sukkhal's
assassination of Inanna and would end, she hoped, with her and Clare completing the slaying,
fulfilling the prophecy.

The Twins gazed at one another, tears of both joy and hope glistening in the sunlight from the patio.

Clare got up and walked around the sofa, took her sister in her arm and kissed her softly on the
mouth for a long time. Isabel and Tess watched, realizing how the Twins had managed to maintain
their powers to this point in their lives..

The kiss was not overtly sexual in nature, but seemed to be somewhat magically ritualistic.

"They're virgins," Isabel deduced. "They're so afraid of getting pregnant and not fulfilling the prophecy of
being the Last Two Sukkhal, that they've forgone any male contact that could seduce them into any
remote possibility of pregnancy...I detect much unusual magic about them. Their line's acquired odd magics
in its odyssey through the millennia..."

Tess reached out and interlaced her fingers with one of Isabel's larger hands.

Both were remembering their own one-time apparent submission to passion. Tess stood up, lifted
herself to her tiptoes and kissed Isabel briefly on the cheeks, then on the mouth. Ritual was one thing.
What she and Isabel had done was a bit more.

Isabel hugged her and they stayed that way, faces buried in one anothers hair. Tess moved her feet
onto Isabel's so she wouldn't have to keep standing on tiptoes.

...

Isabel remembered it well.

It was one of the defining moments in her and Tess' lives that had welded them together forever, even
before the bestowal under the Granilith chamber.

It was in the university dorm at Las Cruces.

Alex had finally gone to bed in the other room, while she had kept on trying to tease something out of the metal
pages of the book using her powers. Usually she or Alex would sleep on the old couch, the other getting the bed.

They always made sure that Tess had the best bed.

Her continuous mindwarps on so many people, including Lonnie and Nicholas, Max and the others was
terribly draining on her. She frequently awoke in the night, calling out for Isabel, never remembering it
in the morning.

Hearing her cries, Isabel ran into the room and sat on the bed beside her. Tess flowed into her arms and
stopped moaning. Isabel gently lay down beside her and held her tinier sister in her arms. She touched her
mind with her dreamwalk.

Tess was having a nightmare that she really was pregnant and was hurting terribly.
Isabel brushed that away and reminded her that she was not alone.

In the dream, set in high school, but eerily devoid of all but them, she and Tess talked. Then kissed hungrily,
touching and exploring one another for endless hours, it seemed. Finally both fell asleep exhausted
in the soft green grass of the dream's park, watching the moon over the mountains in the far distance.

In the dream...she and Tess talked...Tess and Isabel never discussed that night,
unsure of what was real and what was dreamwalk wish fulfillment, and had never
repeated it.

That morning, Alex had gotten up to begin another day at the computers here and in the computer center.

Looking in on Tess, after not finding Isabel on the couch, he stood in the door for a long time. The sisters
were barely covered by the twisted sheet. The smaller Tess was in Isabel's arms as she lay protectively
around her. It was a touching and provocative tableaux.

Alex made a resigned noise and turned away. Isabel was lost to him forever, he realized.

Her love for her new-found sister was obviously deep-flowing. Even extending to whatever was necessary to
ensure that she never wanted for anything, particularly comforting and certainty of being loved.

Tess and Isabel never discussed that night, unsure of what was real and what was dreamwalk
wish fulfillment, and had never repeated it. But their love for one another was beyond anything either
had ever experienced.

It didn't need further reinforcement.
It just was.

...

Isabel opened her eyes and looked past Tess' curls to the Twins, still kissing chastely.

It appeared that there was another pair of sisters who were bound to one another similarly.

The girls separated in the silence, their minds full of things past and things that were about to happen.
Tess, still holding one of Isabel's hands, watched the Twins, now seated comfortably next to her as they
all sat on the floor, their backs against the sofa.

The Twins considered Tess like them, being so small and a Warrior, she'd said earlier. They weren't
sure how to handle the bigger Isabel, whom Tess said was a Queen, so they treated her a little more
like they'd have treated their mother.

If they could ever find her again in this merged dimension.

Tess decided to talk Warrior shop.

"How do you kill a god?" It wasn't an academic question, since Isabel had fought hand-to-hand with
the pregnant god Glory in Roswell. And both were now probably running from the far more dangerous
Glory that lived with Buffy.

"Anunnaki-style gods, or natural gods, like Glory?" Clare leaned back on the sofa and looked up at the
ceiling mischievously.

She and Callie laughed knowingly as Isabel and Tess both said, together, "Natural, like Glory."

"You two must really be hearing her footsteps," Clare laughed again. "But, unless you've got a couple
of atomic bombs, really big ones, in your bras, best to find some way to get on her good side."

"We've heard legends that in the early era of the Anunnaki arrival, maybe half a million years ago, they
began a war with the naturally magic gods resident on earth and adjacent dimensions. Somehow they
managed to eventually, after a long time, exterminate them, apparently with super-technology weapons."

"We think that something on the order of a super nuclear bomb, a big H-bomb, is needed to kill the most
powerful natural gods, eliminating even the possibility of resurrection by another god. Overwhelms their
ability to absorb and store energy magically."

Callie added, "Legends handed down by our Sukkhal ancestors, and some in our magical DNA, speak of
the clans using small asteroids to attack one another on earth and the other colonized planets. These could
also have been used against the more powerful of the gods."

"And," Clare wasn't smiling anymore, "That's when they repeatedly destroyed their own built-up cities
and most of their selectively bred humans and human-Anunnaki hybrids..."

"Hybrids?" Isabel echoed. "Like us...?"

"Maybe," Clare responded doubtfully.

"But from your earlier descriptions of your powers before the...umm...bestowal of the...Curupiran
powers...you must have a substantial amount of natural god DNA in you, like we do. This argues
for something special and recent, because after the First Sukkhal was made and the god-killing
began, it was forbidden to mix natural god DNA with mortals."

"For fear of creating more Sukkhal-like beings..." Callie interjected helpfully.

Tess, being her usual observant self, asked a crucial question that the Twins had never thought of. "If
the natural gods were finally exterminated, where did the magical natural god DNA come from for us, or
even for your ancestor...?"

The girls looked at one another and shrugged. "Maybe they took DNA from some gods early on before they
started killing them...No that makes no sense..." both were talking and answering one another, as twins often did.
"We don't know..." Callie finally said.

Clare looked puzzled.

Thinking about it, Tess cast a gentle spell that told her the answer directly from the traces of the Twins and her
& Isabel's in the room. "I know," she said confidentially. The other three were still watching her spell's fascinating
side effects wherein a series of colored bands appeared in the air in the middle of the room, one for each girl.

The spell wasn't numerical, that would've required a far more intrusive spell. It was relative and done with color,
since Tess was very visually oriented. "What's it mean?" Isabel was impressed at Tess' casual use of her magical
powers since the bestowal.

Her little sister was way ahead of her.

"The yellow's just plain old DNA, our human part. The dark green is the Key component in our DNA, and the red is,
I assume, the natural god DNA," Tess recalled her spell's simple conditions. "The bright green is the Curupiran
part of me and Isabel. It seems to be akin to the Key's in some ways."

"What the hell?" was the main phrase that came from all the girls...

Tess added the faint residual DNA of Buffy from her own arms, and that of Glory, also from Buffy's arms. Then, as she
got better, she found some Curupiran/Tess and Glory/Clare DNA in Isabel's hair in minute traces and was able to
separate them, to her own amazement.

"What the hell?" was the main phrase that came from all the girls, including Tess herself.

This explained a lot, but created new mysteries. It was painfully obvious that all but Buffy had some natural
god DNA. Also that the Curupiran and Key DNA were totally separate, but possibly related forms of another
natural god strain of DNA.

"The gray's artificial god DNA," Tess said flatly. "Made in a lab from scratch. The blue's traces of lots of
minor components."

Isabel patted Tess on the head like a little girl, "Well done, honey. This also shows that the pregnant Clare
was already almost a god when I fought the pregnant Glory in the Crashdown. I was fighting two gods at once,
maybe three, if you count the baby. No damn wonder I got my 'sweet Rose' ass whipped!"

'Yeah," Tess sympathized, "But see that Curupira also has a lot of natural god DNA in her, yet she's supposed
to have come from a faraway dimension. She's not supposed to be human, but she has some human DNA
anyway!"

"More lies and deceptions..." Isabel said with conviction. "At least now we know..."

"What's the difference between natural gods and these artificial gods, other than the lack of navels by natural
gods?" Isabel squeezed Tess' hand to get her attention as she kept working on the DNA display. "Oh," Tess
blinked and said something softly.

The magical colors vanished.

"Not a whole lot, that we're aware of," Clare explained.

"We've never met a real god of either type. But we're beginning to understand from Tess' magic DNA charts
some things we never realized." She paused, then continued, "Take Inanna, for example. She, we know
from our ancestors, could perform great magics like the legendary natural gods."

"But it's apparent that she based it on the artificial DNA and her technological magic, like Tess found in the
robot that she freed the girl, Buffy-Anne from," Callie joined in. "It's unlikely that they pursued the unpredictable
real god DNA after the First Sukkhal was made. We'd have heard of it."

"So," Isabel persisted, "Why do we exist with varying amounts of god DNA in us?"

There was a long silence before Tess spoke up. "The real question," she proposed, "is 'Where did Glory and
Curupira come from if all the natural gods were exterminated long ago?'" she had that look on her face that told
Isabel she was onto something.

"The chart showed 3  god-DNA sources, ignoring the artificial god-DNA. Also ignoring the Key god-DNA,
which became human in Dawn only last year, that leaves Glory and Curupira as the sources, except for
you two. Yet Glory and we were prophesied 10,000 years ago..."

Clare hesitantly said, "Maybe Glory, Curupira and the Key are older than Inanna?" She looked at Callie
in real dismay, " Is there something that wasn't passed down to us, other than in the prophecy, for some
reason?"

"Maybe," Tess suggested, "To hide the fact that they existed so that one day they could be available to...
empower us and help you. Pretty farfetched...but it's happening..."

Callie turned to Tess and asked point-blank, "Until today we had no idea artificial god-DNA existed either.
Just what the fricking hell does god DNA really do?"

Tess rubbed her hands together and said, "It's apparent It allows the proper user to directly  manipulate
matter and energy at or below the atomic level with no intermediary knowledge or devices. In Roswell
we could do many such things, considering our now apparently 'deliberately limited' training."

"After the Curupiran powers were integrated into me, I began to have not only new powers, the blurring and
invulnerability, but the vastly extended magic, pretty much whatever I can conceive, I can do, within my energy
range."

She stopped to let her mind catch up with her mouth.

"As a Warrior, I was trained to utilize every opportunity and take advantage of novel situations," Tess clapped her
hands. "What could be more novel than this?"

All nodded.

"What now?" Isabel asked. "Surrender to Glory?"

"Not likely," Tess said emphatically. "There's the woman on the tower that Curupira met way back the day
after the tower debacle. She's probably the missing god. My memories say that Dawn learned her name
was Holly in Roswell. The rest is pretty fuzzy."

"You mean, as in the prophecy? '...hidden beyond the holly'?", Clare interpreted. "Holly is a person, a
god of some sort?"

"What now?" Isabel asked. "Surrender to Glory?"
...

"We don't surrender to Glory," Tess smiled broadly, "We feed Glory, Clare, Curupira and later, Holly, to the other Glory."

"And see what happens."

"I believe," Tess said slowly, "That she's the key to the mystery of Glory and Curupira, and maybe the
Key and you and us. My memories say that the later-pregnant Glory worked with her before coming to the
dimension where the other Glory was building the tower and capturing the Key, Dawn."

"We don't surrender to Glory," Tess smiled broadly, "We feed Glory, Clare, Curupira and later, Holly, to the
other Glory."

"And see what happens."

"Speaking of feeding, how about food!" Callie said. "Too much fighting and talking. We may not be immortal,
but we do have the appetites that go with our superpowers..."

"We just ate," Tess looked at her watch and realized 4 hours had passed. "Too long ago."

"Well," Clare asked no one in particular, "Now it's settled that we're going to play off the natural gods among
themselves while we see about tracking down Inanna...what do we do in the meantime?" she got up from the
floor and offered one hand to Tess and the other to her sister Callie.

Tess cautiously took her hand, alert for any effort to repeat the earlier absorption of her energies.
Nothing. Just a firm, black-nailed hand.

"Don't forget the Key...Dawn," Callie reminded them. "We need to talk to her about immortality."

Tess shrugged. "We could do it right here, right now," she offered. Isabel nudged her. "But," she hastily
added, "Maybe you're right. You probably need to have the the actual Key bestow on you to make sure
that you retain your invulnerability..." she made it as plausible as she could.

Hell, it might even be factual.

The Twins looked at one another for a second. Both sensed that Tess was holding something back, but they
needed the Roswell girls to get to Sunnydale and to the living Key, Dawn.

All the rest was peripheral.

They could kill Isabel and Tess at their leisure once in Sunnydale.

Already, they suspected that Tess was able to hear them, maybe even decipher their encoded language.
So they refrained from discussing this, but both had Sukkhal alarm bells ringing like mad in their minds.

The Roswell girls might truly be the heralds of the prophecy, but their very lack of precursors in the Sukkhal
legends meant they were most likely agents of Inanna with some sort of mindwarp conditioning to believe
they were who they thought they were.

To Callie, the most striking evidence was how quickly Tess had found a weakness that neither realized they
had, the need to breathe -  since they were not actual immortals.

That argued  for some special foreknowledge.

Neither could fathom the magic kiss, though.

It seemed to be an analog of their own power to suck out the energy of their opponent and dump it into the
Key for dispersal. But Tess and Isabel didn't need the Key, being immortal and super powered via the
mysterious Curupira/Tess.

Both the Twins had barely suppressed their shock at seeing that Isabel and Tess had Key god-DNA
in their makeup. It might be as they implied, via the bestowal by the morphed other Tess/Curupira. But if
Dawn was the Key, had Curupira stolen some of the Key's powers during that first bestowal on Dawn, the
Key?

[ Ed- It only became apparent in Dawn's backstory ("Dark Deeds"), much later in the Works after the events in "Our Story"
in the Palace, that Curupira was actually the one giving human life to Dawn in the warehouse, one step ahead of the then
nearly insane Glorificus pounding on the door. Had Tess actually moved beyond relative DNA analyses to numerical values,
she might have found that Dawn's DNA was an unlikely hodgepodge of Natural God-DNA from Glory Hall, Curupira & the other
Tess. Plus Buffy & Clare human DNA - the blue-tagged DNA she was unconcerned with.

NOTE- This Ed added  as we resumed transcription and uploading of older Works from their manuscripts in June 2003,

The Sukkhal had not survived and triumphed for 100 centuries by being gullible.

For the moment they needed to get as much information from the two girls as possible.

"Isabel," Clare suggested," Why don't we go and get your car into the underground parking after we
pick up some takeout? We know this steak place nearby. Great barbecue sauce and rolls."  Isabel nodded
assent. It would give her a chance to draw the blonde out while Tess worked on Callie.

They hadn't discussed it, but it was logical that separating the almost psychic Twins would be better
than having them communicating with one another in code. The two were incredibly dangerous and
only Tess' fast thinking and their Curupiran edge had allowed them to temporarily get the upper hand.

It was likely that the Twins were not going to remain quiescent with this fact for very long. But they were
very good actors for the moment.

"Why do we need to find a place to park our car off the street?" Tess asked Isabel.

"Then turn it in," Callie suggested. We've got 2 cars. One we had, the other one was here in Clare's name
when we merged here, though we didn't know it then. We just kept it. And you could stay here in the other
room."

Callie and Clare didn't want to lose their only ticket to Dawn in Sunnydale.

Tess looked at Isabel knowingly. The car belonged to the Clare that was in Sunnydale when the merge
occurred in May, she interpreted. No words were needed. Isabel nodded assent. Then she said, "OK .
I'll get the bags if Clare'll follow me to the rental place."

They left and Tess was alone with the redhead, Callie.

Tess followed the girl as she got more bed stuff out of the closet. Noticing money falling out of a plastic trash
bag on the floor, she pointed. "Oh, that," Callie dismissed it. We've got it stuffed all over the place." She talked
while she and Tess made the bed in the other bedroom.

Putting on a corner of the fitted sheet, Callie added. "After we ran out of money because our little cable horror
series, "Gods & Demons" was not here in this familiar, but not the same, L.A. We guessed a different dimension,
but couldn't figure out how, not having the Key. Nor why it was almost identical."

[Ed: The twins would be diverted in Sunnydale by roles in a curious made-for-them-cable movie called "God & Demons" also.
Though the events had nothing to do with their own former series. Instead it focused on supposedly real past
events that Dawn came up with in talking to Glory Hall & Curupira.

This eventually became documented in the Work "Gods & Demons". Which details Clare's much later manipulation
of past events in time in 1963, when a still-sometimes sane, fully-empowered Glorificus and her new almost-friend
Curupira accidentally portal aboard a passenger plane over the Pacific. And wind up in the clutches of a disbelieving
             FBI in Roswell.

The reasons for Clare's manipulation from the future seem obscure, but it appears related to preventing the then
incredibly powerful, but increasingly insane, Glorificus from leaving Roswell a smoking crater. Directly affecting
Clare's later choice of the "Lost Roswell" similar dimension as the main trunk for merging the other remaining
             primary similar dimensions onto.

It should be noted that, in "Three Queens", 11 years elapsed Palace faster time after "Blood Road",  the role of Holly
in putting Glory into baby Ben in late 1973, for a surprising reason, becomes obvious. The unintended side effect of
splitting reality on earth, and surrounding regions out to about 50 LY, into 4 (5, we later learn, because of the Granilith's
presence near Roswell) similar  dimensions. Which collapse into 3 when Dawn's blood opens the Tower Portal.

In "Three Queens", Clare's lost-in-the- Outer Worlds 9-year  old god girls stumble into the surprising true fate of the
azpparently last of the natural gods.

             And why Glorificus was insane.

And that the splitting of herself into multiple dimensions in a crisis situation was a last ditch survival ploy that
even the re-creatrix god Holly was unaware of. Though much later, as Clare began suturing the 3 dimensions into a unitary
one in "Another Birthday", with time dislocations in the 2003-2011 period, she discovered that the splitting also generated
numerous odd, partially-filled rogue dimensions. Like detailed in the work "Parthenogenesis or Perish".

"So we reverted to what we used to do in high school and later in the university when we were short of cash.
We trolled for muggers and rapists. Killed them and took their wallets. Good practice."

"Yeah, I saw the wallets, " Tess agreed, smoothing the colorful bedspread.

"And the trash bag, or bags?" Tess pressed her.

"Oh, that was too slow, so we followed some drug dealers for a few days until we figured out which ones had
all the the cash. Then one night were went from place to place and stole it all. Needed the car to carry it all
so it wouldn't be seen."

"And the dealers?" Tess knew what was coming.

"Scum. We killed them all, maybe 60 or so." She smiled at the memory.

"It was great fun. Bullets bounce off us, ya'know."

Hell," she added, "I even dodged some of the slower bullets for fun. Those idiots were screaming for mercy
as we beheaded them with our short swords, after smashing and wounding them and collecting the cash."

"We told them were avenging angels sent to kill all drug dealers. One asked why we were bagging the money
though, if we were angels. I thought it was an astute question and wanted to let him live, but Clare said 'no
witnesses'."

"So she killed him."

Tess found this enlightening. The Twins were casually bloodthirsty and almost unstoppable once they
decided on who was prey. Especially with their peculiar ability to absorb energy and apparently
send it somehow to their Key, now Dawn, to be dissipated into other dimensions.

Callie told Tess about their life in Ohio and later in New York and L.A. "Maybe we can find our real Mom with
Dawn's help," she seemed hopeful. In spite of Tess' cautions earlier.

Isabel and Clare opened the door, carrying the bags and lots of food.

Following a leisurely and lengthy meal in the little kitchenette it was now lateish and Clare brought clean outer
bedding into the unused bedroom for Tess and Isabel.  Neither were surprised that the inseparable twins slept
together.

Soon all were abed. Though the hallway past their bedroom to the bath had a light on.
Plus light came in from somewhere outside to put shadows of the curtains on the ceiling.

"Goodnight, Clare. Callie, " Tess called out as she pulled the cool covers over her and Isabel.
She found her sister's larger hand and squeezed it. Both realized that they had no idea what their
future held.

But at least they were together.

Clare, or Callie, both sounded the same in the dark, returned the goodnight.

The girls, unused to having overnight visitors, became silent. Using their Sukkhal senses
to hear the bizarrely slow breathing and heartbeats of the two strange supergirls in the
other bedroom.

Finally, Clare kissed her sister on the cheek, a nightly ritual since she was the oldest, by a few minutes.

She fell back on her pillow. The few months of their lives  they'd been apart and not sleeping together
had been some of the loneliest times of her life. After they got their degrees from NYU, she'd moved
to L.A.

Callie had followed later. She still had bar exams to take.

[Ed- Like all the various dimensional Clare & Callies, except for the fact that both were born in Atlanta, rather than
Callie being born about 4 years later in New Orleans, most of the general details of their later lives in Ohio & beyond
were roughly similar to all the others. Also, except for the fact that they were Sukkhal supergirls. Believing that they
were destined to be the last Sukkhals. However improbable that seemed. Clare's full name was Clare Elizabeth.
            Callie's was Callie Marie.]

But the months had been long. She didn't even have a TV until Callie brought it from their NYC apartment.

All four girls slept soundly.
In spite of their bitter battles of introduction earlier.

Tess and Isabel made breakfast for the Twins.

Waking them up from their cute arm-in-arm sleeping position.
After watching them for a few moments to see how alert they were to their presence.

Tess had made pancakes from scratch. With only a bit of magic. She noticed that the syrup they had
in plentiful supply in larger plastic pouring bottles with handles was Log Cabin's Country Kitchen.
"CK," she'd pointed out to Isabel.

Both smiled.

These girls actually bought things with their initials in the names. They seemed to be driven by
their ancestors' pasts, ritual and their perceived destinies.

"A lot like us," Isabel had observed.

They really had a pleasant breakfast.

Afterward, the Twins packed all their clothes and money into various bags, while Tess & isabel
watched. The Twins had an awful lot of shoes, they noticed.

[Ed- A common observation about the Glory/Clare/Callie lookalikes was their fascination with shoes, particularly
high-heeled shoes. Since they were all fairly short girls. Though not Mary-Kate & Ashley or Tess, Ava, Emilie
         even more diminutive girls.]

After turning in their other car earlier, they were now all in Callie & Clare's SUV. Tess & Isabel were
in the second seat row. They left the legacy Clare car in the parking space.

Tess commented on their black fingernails for the first time as Callie, who drove, pulled out into the
L.A. streets. Clare turned to them from her shotgun seat. "We have to use other colors over a white
or ivory base when we want to go natural," she held her fingers out , as if she were playing  a piano,
for them to see.

"When we got all our powers at sixteen, that's when our nails went black," she said.

Tess and Isabel were seriously concerned about the black nails, because only Glorificus &
Glory/Clare had had them. Both gods, per their own stolen memories. Obviously the Twins were
super special, even if they were not gods.

They were beyond 'normal' bestowed supergirls by a long shot.
They were almost invincible.
Almost.

Clare continued. "Before, we would use nail polish to do it. Now all we do is put a clear coat on them.
The show wanted them black."

"you have unusual powers, "Tess observed. "Maybe you should just accept that. And all that goes with it."

Tess let her mind run as she watched Callie's black-nailed fingernails on the steering wheel. Against the
beige of the seats and console. Clare was fiddling with a CD.

"Where are we going?" Isabel asked Callie.

"To the address on the flyer." Callie answered confidently

[Ed- the Angel flyer the Roswell Roses picked up in Part 1."]

"We take the issue head on. If  they exist in this dimension, then we know we're not still in our original
dimension - as you tell us, and as we've observed."
