This is where the following extracted narrative
picks up, Buffy is in Sunnydale dealing with the mundane
ramifications of newly minted god-hood. Much
of the narrative extract is interior monolog, rare to this
extent in DTLS works:
Part 2:
" Buffy the God in Sunnydale"
[First Put on-line Oct 2001]
...
[It had been a long talk with Anya, never totally
surprised at anything. At first she'd looked
for the usually always attached Glory. Portalling
was typically a god thing. Not something
Buffy was able to do alone.]
[Anya comprehended quickly, but had to hear
the whole story of the bomb and Glory. Now both
were silent, thinking of the implications.]
Buffy sat on the counter beside the cash register
as Anya rang up a customer. She was looking
around at this place, with its memories and remembered
crises.
So much had happened here. Emotions of joy, confusion and despair.
She'd walked these very floors before her fateful
decisions about Dawn, then about her belated
offer to Glory that night. What had seemed wrong
and desperate and, oh, so important then,
now was like a distant dream.
'It'll melt away like ice cream,' Glory said that she'd told Ben about the concerns of mortality.
And so it had been since she and Glory had found
solace from their apparent unbounded
hatred of one another by the discovery that the
other was what each had needed and didn't
know it until that moment on Glory's world.
Definitely she was now in the rarefied realm where
her concerns were in a state of transition.
Comprehension was the curious word Glory had
used as she progressed herself.
Glory had gone through her dramatic steps in godly
growth in an improbable series of events that
were traceable back to the Roswell supergirls
taking their copies of the other Dawn's blood in
Buffy's own home from Buffy herself.
[Ed- See "Three Days in Sunnydale, Part 2 of 2" for details.]
And all that was keyed off the Roswell girl, Isabel
risking everything to steal a copy of
Curupira/Tess' powers. But all Isabel was trying
to do was to rescue the entrapped Roswell
Tess, her real sister.
The unintended consequences were mind-boggling in retrospect.
[Ed- See "Three Days in Roswell, Parts 2,3 & 4 of 4" for details.]
On such personal decisions did her present exalted state rest.
"Memories," Buffy said aloud.
Anya looked up at Buffy. "Thinking of things that
once were and'll never be again?" she
surmised. "It's like I was when I was made into
an immortal demon originally," she
reminisced.
Anya looked up at Buffy. "Thinking
of things
that once were and'll never
be again?"

"Then I became mortal when I lost my amulet and powers. Now I worry
about little things.
Periods, sleep, broken limbs, making a living, dying..." she touched
Buffy's hand on the
edge of the counter.
Buffy, for the first time, felt Anya's desperation, kept in check only
by her love for Xander.
"Know this, " Buffy said quietly, " I WILL make you and Xander immortal
when you have your
children...unless you desire it now...but immortals don't have children..."
Anya still had her left hand on Buffy's as they talked.
"I want immortality back, never to die like Joyce. But I also want the
other immortality
that descendants bring. You know, Buffy," she emphasized, "that all
of you, Dawn, Curupira/Tess,
Glory/Clare after the current birth, all the Roswell girls, your Glory,
and now the crazy Sukkhal
Twins can never have children..." she paused. It was a long list.
"The Twins. How did that happen?" Buffy and Glory had been away for many weeks.
"Dawn. We had them locked up after a fight with isabel and Tess. Then
there was the fake movie
that became a real movie..." she stopped. "It's very complicated. Dawn
made some sort of deal with
them. I think it's related to her still seeing that boy from Roswell
somehow..."
[Ed- See "The Twins - Sukkhal, The God-Killers" for details at a future time.]
Buffy's eyes narrowed at the thought. "Later," she said aloud.
But she was worried, she remembered her own harmone-charged latter teen years as a Slayer.
Also Faith's similar releases, including with Xander, long before Anya
arrived. It was hard for
Buffy to conceive of Dawn this way. But she and that Roswell guy had
been holding hands
and she had bestowed on him, Glory had declared.
That had to create a rather emotional and physical bond that Dawn could be overwhelmed with.
[Ed- See "Three Days in Roswell, Parts 1,2,3 & 4 of 4" for details.]
Her first new problem here was Dawn and boys. This she didn't need.
Since Dawn was technically
barely more than a year old. Buffy was fairly certain that she had
had no time for experience with
boys - she hoped.
Anya was still talking, "That's the dark side of immortality and god-ship.
If it weren't for Xander,
I'd be begging you for immortality right now. Or one of the others
that can do it." She reluctantly
took her hand from Buffy's to remove the terrible temptation of immortality
for the asking.
"When you're ready...and Xander," Buffy spoke without looking.
She didn't have to. She could sense things around her to whatever level
she desired. It was such
a tremendous thing - she had thought she was enhanced as a Slayer,
then as an immortal and
now as a god. There was no comparison. She was something not seen before.
A living person
elevated to god-hood by sheer Glory god-power.
Yeah, she was a new god, but she'd been a Slayer before.
She was ready, willing and able to grow like Glory had done - right
before Buffy's eyes. From a
scared, bluffing, mistake-prone god-girl to the confident, complicated
and endlessly inventive
god that had made a new god as soon as she realized she had acquired
the power to do after
her stunning triumph.
What would Glory do as Buffy grew?
---
She smiled warmly at the changed roles. Glory was so right. This changed
everything.
Buffy lightly clapped her hands together and slid to the floor from
the counter. "I'm going to
the go out for a bit to visit the other Glory and see how their baby's
coming along. When are
the others coming over for the meeting with me?"
"In two hours, I hope. Classes, you know, I also had to leave voice
mail for Dawn and Curupira."
Anya and the others had gotten into the habit of calling either Tess
or Curupira simply, Curupira,
since the arrival of the Roswell Isabel and Tess escorting the Sukkhal
Twins back per Glory's
earlier plan.
Too many Tesses and too many Glorys.
To top it off, the Sukkhal Twins had the homonymic names of Callie and
Clare. They were still
another of the inexplicable dimensional clones of Glory, and in this
instance, Clare. But then,
Clare was herself a dimensional physical clone of Glory... Anya stopped
thinking of this,
it made her dizzy every time.
Everyone else had finally given up and mentally thought of all them
as some sort of in-bred
extended family. It was a lot simpler that way. Xander simply called
all of them the Odd Girls,
but only when none were around.
"Voice mail?" Buffy repeated. Anya's mind seemed to have wandered.
"Cell phones and text mail, among other things," Anya pointed to some
of the electronics
under the counter that Buffy couldn't see. Buffy gestured absently
and the counter front
seemed transparent. "Oh, I see," Buffy realized this was Dawn's world
now, "I guess I
lost track of the way things are done these days."
"Glory and her odd bunch here foot the bill," Anya said approvingly.
"Anyway, I'm off on a god's work," Buffy joked. But she stayed leaning on the counter.
Anya nodded. Buffy was already sounding like Glory. Which was also how
Clare was
sounding since their second trimester visit to Roswell.
Now in their third trimester, Anya saw very little of the pregnant Glory
and mostly
saw the now hugely pregnant Clare waddling around in spite of
her apparently
ever increasing powers.
Her constantly cheerful manner and outlook were an inspiration to Anya's
own
family plans.
From all the girls, she heard that Ben had ordered Glory to stop diddling
with any
normal pregnancy side effects or any trying to mask Clare from uncomfortableness
and instead concentrate solely on the god-girl's magical growth.
One or two had even confided that the symbiosis between the god-girl
and Clare
was now so great that it was Glory who was more miserable when she
was morphed
in than Clare.
That seemed to jibe with what Anya was seeing.

The last time she'd seen Glory morphed in 'gloriously pregnant'
on a visit, she was
complaining about everything from itching to swelling and that her
breasts were
hurting like Clare's did the first month of the pregnancy. She was
extremely
uncomfortable standing or walking, and headed for a seat or a sofa
as soon as
she could.
Still, she didn't try to use magic to alleviate the problems anymore.
Only by Clare
morphing in could Glory escape the effects. Clare now seemed immune
to the side-
effects that so pervaded Glory now.
Anya thought it only poetic justice that Clare had suffered so much
through the first trimester
miseries, then both had sailed with little effort through the second
trimester, but now Glory
was finally paying the price of holding off any effects on them with
her magics.
She knew something else was going on that the supergirl clique was hiding
from the others,
but so far they'd managed to keep it a secret. They all just smiled
broadly and kept their
mouths shut.
That in itself was magical, she smiled.
When Anya visited to to learn more about mothers and babies from Clare,
Glory, Pat, and
often Ben there in a professional capacity, she felt like it was a
sorority house that
she had visited briefly once while researching rare books on campus
with Tara and Willow.

It had been pretty simple with the 3 girls there in 2 apartments in
the summer, Glory/Clare,
Dawn and Curupira/Tess. Then later in the fall the 2 Roswell girls
arrived with the Twins in tow.
After their fight and the diversions, the Twins and the Roswell girls
moved into the 2 other
apartments in the building.
In addition, there was also this former captive, Dana, rooming with the Twins.
There were still 2 more vacant luxury apartments and the whole other
vacant building
nearby that Glory, Clare and Pat owned. Anya hoped they weren't expecting
more girls
to what Willow and Tara called laughingly, Sigma Gamma house.
SG for SuperGirls,
of course.
The girls thought this was cute and some of them had affixed a small
unobtrusive blue and
green plaque near the door into the entry area where the elevator was.
It didn't hurt that the
"G" was obvious and the Gamma was an upside down "L".

them, except Glory herself.]
Anya observed that the witches were hurt at being left out
and never being approached for bestowal.
It certainly wasn't their lifestyle, from what she'd heard about Curupira's
Tess and Glory earlier from
Dawn.
Maybe, she thought suddenly, Buffy could remedy that. Humming to herself
at the thought,
Anya began printing out the e-mail orders from the database for filling.
Buffy was still lingering while Anya worked. She realized it and asked,
"Why're you going to
see Clare and Glory? To compare powers? I've seen Clare do things lately
that I thought
only Glory could do. As the baby comes closer to term, she seems to
be becoming more and
more like Glory."
Buffy thought about the implications of that.
Maybe, she deduced, there was that path to god-hood. Surely, though
it couldn't be that simple.
If 3-way pregnancy by a god in a compatible host, by way of a Key portal
opening engineered by
another bound god, could be considered simple. Shaking her head, she
dismissed it as implausible
for the moment.
Instead, she responded, "Good guess." Buffy headed for the door. "Do
you think they'll come
to the meeting?" she called back.
"Only if Clare's learned to teleport...like your Glory," Anya laughed.
"She looks like she swallowed
a really big pumpkin or two now. Glory's even worse when she's morphed
in. It's like something I'd have
set up when I was a vengeance demon."
Buffy had always liked both girls for their sheer boldness, lack of
any predatory motives and the
way they'd taken Dawn under their wing while she and Glory were away
on Glory's world, so she
took a dig at Anya..
"Don't twins run in Xander's family? I heard they skip a generation.
He's not a twin, is he?"

She could almost see the thought entering Anya's mind of her duck-walking
around with
Xander's twins.
Anya watched Buffy turn and open the door. As she did, Buffy reached
way up and tinkled the bell
with her black-nailed fingers. Now whey hadn't she noticed that nail
change before?
Thrusting the thought that she might have twins from her mind for the
moment, Anya began
humming a tune from her faraway childhood. From when she was a mortal
the first time.
The words for it were lost to her, but the tune made her feel
happy.
Buffy walked down the late morning streets as if seeing them for the first time...
...yet remembering them from the real first time she'd come here with
her mother as the newby
Slayer. Of course there was no Dawn, That was a later monkish creation
from the Key, complete
with fake memories that stretched all the way to Dawn's non-existent
birth.
So naive. So young. So unsure of what was going to happen to her. Her
ultimate destiny.
High school, the Mayor, Kendra, Faith, Angel...and Angel. College,
Riley, and, god help me, Glory.
Buffy's heart melted on the thoughts of Glory. She knew beyond a doubt
that Glory felt the same
way about her. Theirs was a love born of original raw hatred of one
another. From such was
now. It was not unheard of, but it was rare.
Perhaps true emotion was sometimes a circle that, when carried far enough,
became the opposite
emotion.
The long, long months on Glory's fantastically beautiful world had been
her heaven-like reward
for living in this world as an agent of death. She and Glory had explored
the now empty of
inhabitants world, arm in arm.
[Ed.- see "Buffy & Glory - Beyond the Portal" for why everyone fled, one step ahead of Glory]
If this is hell," Buffy had told Glory, "I'm all for it."
She had endless memories of that idyllic time
when she had lived in a world that consisted
of only two, her and Glory. She could live in
that world, but only with someone who'd been
alone for longer than a Slayer could be.
Still, they were alike and the bond had actually
manifested itself in Glory before in Buffy.
But Glory didn't really know what it was, being
an immature god-girl herself. Just that she
developed a longing for Buffy to be around her,
even if they were fighting.
Glory could have, as she'd told Dawn the night
of the portal, put her fist through Buffy's
heart at any time. But she never did. She couldn't.
[Ed.- see "Buffy & Glory - Beyond the Portal" ]
Buffy kicked at a can someone had tossed onto the sidewalk.
She reached down and picked it up as if never
having seen one before. Then she dropped
it into the nearest trash can.
Soon she crossed the street, was on Rivelo and
walking up to her house. It was so empty.
Her mother dead many months ago. Dawn in the
Glory/Clare Sigma Gamma house, as
Anya had called it, since the summer.

She and Glory gone for many weeks ago chasing
after the Roswell girls and finding their
own path to destiny in the Hyperion Hotel in
that bizarre "Buffy-is-TV" dimension, which Dawn
had named it.
Buffy could sense the recent scent of Dawn as
she climbed the steps to the porch. Her own
godly senses saw the scent as a flower, perhaps
a white rose. She felt love for Dawn, but
realized Dawn was slipping away into her own
life, in which Buffy was simply her distant
older sister.
She could also trace the near-god DNA scent of
Curupira/Tess, with their odd alien and demon
mixed fragrance. Dawn shared that due to the
bestowal, but had the unique flowery scent to her
DNA that Buffy decided was the Key.
Sitting down beside the door, Buffy put her hands on her upraised knees.
She felt like the alien here. It seemed so ordinary.
In fact, her life as a Slayer seemed so ordinary,
now that she'd tasted immortality those long
months ago. And now she was a god.
She and Glory had settled into the house as Dawn
and Curupira/Tess spent less and less time
visiting here. Glory had been relaxed and happy
here, in spite of her earlier disparaging remarks
when she'd visited, in January 2001, the place
'where the Slayer lives, and brushes her hair''.
Buffy had never noticed how quickly time was flying
on Glory's world, in fact, they'd only
discovered the very real difference in time flow
rates upon returning to Sunnydale.
Except for that Roswell call-home response teleport,
Buffy and Glory had been living in their
own little world, almost a continuation of their
prior months on Glory's world.
[Ed.- See "Three Days in Roswell, Part 4 of 4" for details.]
Around them, almost unnoticed, Dawn, Curupira/Tess
and Clare/Glory had pulled the old gang
apart, except for Anya. In the process, Dawn
had killed so many more foes than Buffy ever had.
As Buffy found out when she and Glory returned.
[Ed.- See "Dawn
the Last Slayer, Part 3 of 3" for details.]

"All those Knights of Byzantium, the 'thousands'
I was told would come after me if I persisted in protecting
the Key, my Dawnie. They still brainlessly sought
the Beast and the Key," Buffy said half-aloud. "And my
sweet little sister, with Curupira, ruthlessly
hunted them down to their bases in Europe and Asia, where they
slaughtered them to a man."
BUffy remembered her own two relatively low-impact encounters with them.
Dawn had learned well from
her kidnapping by Glory and the subsequent slaughter of all of the
local knights by Glory at superspeed
outside the gas station.
Elimination without mercy. So hard for her to equate the two events. Especially now.
"Dawn has proven to be the real Slayer," she recalled a discussion with
Willow. "I never made long trips to
hunt down foes, I usually waited for them to come into Sunnydale. Not
so Dawn and Curupira. If I'd had
Dawn's immortality and Curupiran superpowers, not just Slayer stuff,
would I have been so bold?"
Buffy let her thoughts return from the past to now.
Sitting here beside the door to her old home - that was not her real
home now. Some hotel's top floor
with Glory in another dimension was home to her right now. Without
Glory, she quickly began to feel the
nagging pangs of loneliness.
And she herself was a god now.
What did that mean long term?
What would she be doing a week from now, a year, a century, a millennium?
Certainly she'd not be in Sunnydale.
copyright
© 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
She'd be out there. Or wherever those dimensions and world really were.
She'd be with Glory.
Helping her grow day-by-day into maturity, yet still seeing her nostalgically
as a god-girl,
her special god-girl. The one that had cried that first time Buffy
had deduced her secret - that
she was a mere god-girl masquerading as a mature god.
"Now Glory will be looking at me as I learn the ways of god-hood," Buffy
said aloud to herself.
"So much, so much has happened."
She saw Dawn coming down the street, laughing, with Curupira in her
Tess persona. Buffy knew that
she'd been given a new car by Glory/Clare and Pat for her last birthday.
Perhaps she didn't use it much,
even with Tess as the licensed passenger.
Trailing behind Dawn was a waif-like, visibly dirty little blonde with
short puffy hair. She had small shiny
rings in various places on her face.
It took no effort on Buffy's part to cloak her power from the little near-god, Curupira/Tess.
Upon spying Buffy, Dawn stepped into a blur and was on the steps immediately.
'God, is she fast," Buffy
marveled as Dawn unblurred. "What I could have done with that speed
when I was a Slayer?" Of course
as a god, she could now, but she could also portal and teleport, so
it was a moot power.
"Whatcha doing, Buf?" Dawn plunked herself down beside Buffy and hugged
her. Dawn had the fresh
DNA scent of the flower Buffy had noted earlier, and the powerful body
of a slender tigress - or a near-god.
She was showing more cleavage than Buffy would have guessed she had,
and her clothes were
quite revealing, as were Tesses. Obviously they were in a phase, in
spite of immortality and being
rather cute mass killers.

Buffy hugged Dawn back and kissed her cheek. "Love 'ya, babe," she
said and got up to meet the
somehow-related other two girls. She realized even from this
distance that the scent of the pitiful
waif-girl's DNA was identical to Tess alone.

Both had the trace scent of alien super-technology that Buffy could
not sense until now. It was
the other way to magic that was rampant on the ship Glory had captured
so bloodily. But subtly
different in texture. Two different sources?
A quick train of thought ran through Buffy's god-mind.
It played out in seconds, but it was pertinent to her right now, she believed.
This trace scent intrigued Buffy, as it had Glory when she'd encountered
the Sukkhal sisters and the
Enkum death squad. It was a path to new magics that Glory had seized
and made her own. She'd
had that epiphany, shortly after Wesley 's little lecture about what
dimensions, planets and worlds
really were.
Then about atoms and electrons and elements.
[Ed.- See "Isabel & Tess -Blood Road", when it's on-line next, for details.]
Buffy remembered well that moment as she watched Glory, never having
cared how her magic worked,
frown as she tried to apply what he'd just said to her absolute lack
of knowledge of even basic physics.
She had gestured several times magically and cast a flurry of spells
she appeared to be making up as
she observed the results of the prior one.
Those watching could see nothing but Glory herself. Seemingly talking to herself.
The look on her face was one of intense concentration, that became one
of perplexion that Buffy had
never seen before.
Then the perplexed look changed to child-like delight as she discovered
that she could use her own
100% natural god-magic to duplicate, then move vastly beyond
the super-technology magic. At that
point she actually squealed in laughter and utter comprehension.
Quite pleased with herself she looked
around for Buffy so as to tell her what she had just done.
It was at that moment that Buffy had realized that Glory had no growth
bounds.

She was unique.
She would demonstrate it twice more that day, first when the second
Enkum portal opened. Then again
later, when she formulated the plan to capture the ship through the
original portal. A week or so then had
passed before Inanna arrived outside the portal and introduced
the rare and rarely-used, but massively
powerful, ancient Anunnaki cubical fusion bomb into the Hyperion Hotel
lobby via a ship's portal.
[Ed.-

for details.]

Glory's triumph had been remarkable and complete. Inanna's small fleet
had fled the area beyond the
portal, so incredible was Glory's power now that she feared for
her own survival.
Of course, that last growth jump had come in milliseconds as Glory
coped with the detonating device she
was touching with her hands, using every trick she could conjure up
from all her past experiences and
new experimentally-developed god-powers.

Buffy smiled.
You had to love a god who could actually absorb the power of an old
alien fusion bomb going
off in her hands and come out of it so powerfully enhanced as a result
that she made Buffy a
god on the spot.
(The device was more accurately what Wesley had later decided
was the Anunnaki version of
a monster-yield H-bomb. Much, much later, it was found out that these
types of bombs had a
typical yield of 500-600 megatons).

Still, Buffy wanted to help.
As a natural-magic god herself now, she had a responsibility to her
maker to pursue all leads as to
how to ultimately find and defeat Inanna and her fantastic ships. Right
now she needed to see why
there were two versions of the super-technology magic.
Maybe there was some relationship between Inanna's and this Roswell
girl, plus the whole Roswell
alien saga. Though it made no sense why she would have hybrid alien
experiments going on when
she had at least two fleets of starships. Minus the one ship Glory
now owned by right of piracy.
Anyway, Buffy snapped back to the present
"Hi, I'm Buffy," she held out her hand and the waif-girl moved to hide
behind Tess. Tess looked at Buffy and
said, "She's Ava, the only surviving duplicate of the Roswell hybrids.
We met her last year before our
own trip to New York. She left Roswell on her own afterward, according
to Liz."
Lonnie was inexplicably having trouble maintaining
the cloaking of her powers and some of her appearance
as she watched from the new car that Ben had
arranged for her to acquire some weeks earlier. That she'd made
the right connection in Sunnydale was due to
her sheer cleverness in finding the 'woman on the tower' who
was in a fragment of the stolen memories she
had.
[Ed.-

info. Her name is Holly. She's also a point of contention between
Dawn and the pregnant Glory/Clare in "Three Days in
Roswell, Part 2 of 4" for her possible complicity, deduced by Kyle
Valenti, in the whole Monks-Key-Knights-Dawn-Tower
Deceptions events, and possibly even the Glory imprisonment
and resulting dimensional clones fiasco. One draws the
impression that she's steadily lost control of events and they are spinning
on without her able to do much. The actions of the
wild card god Glory are the most unexpected, apparently.

Carefully using some of her powers behind a dissipative
shield, she discovered that another someone was
cloaked completely, though Lonnie's abilities
identified the cloak by noting the hole in the background energies
behind it, that is Dawn, Curupira/Tess and even
Ava moving back past Buffy.
God love Ava.

Lonnie had been curious where she had gone. She
still remembered Rath had wanted to kill Ava
as Zan had been killed. But she'd stayed in Roswell.
Lonnie wondered if she remembered her answer to
Ava's asking why she, Ava, was kept around. Lonnie
had said, "Because I love you."
After all,Lonnie knew that Ava was her sister,
so it was likely that Tess was Isabel's sister. Though why
both were a secret was still a mystery to her.
Did Ava know? She had never asked her.
Lonnie had had to use another drop of Dawn's blood
from the vial Ben had given her to follow Isabel and
Tess to L.A. earlier. Now she was back and following
Buffy, who seemed to have acquired some additional
powers from the more powerful of the two gods
Glory.
Smugly, Lonnie congratulated herself on aligning
with the other god in town, Holly, the god who seemed
to be the hidden power behind the scenes. She
could report to Holly that she'd observed little from outside
the Hyperion Hotel due to the massive wards and
barriers erected by Glory, but there had been lots of
construction activity on the upper floors.
And Buffy was back.
With Ava, of all people.
"Come on inside," Dawn unlocked the door and waved them in. Buffy followed.
"I'm glad you came back now, Buffy," Dawn said
in a low voice. "Dana and Doc found her wandering the
streets looking for Tess...the other one with
Isabel...but she doesn't know about that." Dawn touched her
arm briefly. She was extremely strong, but controlled,
Buffy could sense easily.
Buffy hesitated by the sofa where she'd seen her mother that horrible day.
The memory was balanced by her detection of Glory's
residual scent, her DNA traces from her first
threatening visit and later when she and Buffy
had returned to Sunnydale and settled in here together.
"I miss her so much, too," Dawn took Buffy by
the arm and led her to the dinette table in the kitchen.

Tess was getting some leftovers out for Ava,
after sniffing then to be sure they were OK. Buffy smiled,
yesterday she would not have noticed Tess first
de-spelling the foods. The range of powers of the
Curupiran-derived girls always amazed her.
She thought of them as 'little' Glories.
Tess was so quick and confident about her magic.
She was doing the de-spelling with only a barely
visible fingers motion trigger. She looked
at Buffy briefly and smiled back. She assumed that Buffy
had been given some more sensory powers, having
been made initially immortal by a god directly.
However, unlike Dawn, herself and the other Curupiran
supergirls, Buffy had had neither alien nor
Key powers to build on.
Buffy had been merely a Slayer. Sometimes the
girls felt sorry for her, she being limited in powers to
whatever new magic Glory could contrive to
work from Buffy's rather limited magic reservoirs.
"Nice job," Buffy said as she sat down at the
table with them. "I first saw Glory do that in her palace
on her world."
Dawn laughed. "I can do it now too, but it's harder
for me. You never told us everything about what
you and Glory did...uh, not that everything..."
Dawn's pale face blushed. She was actually remembering
her own recent clandestine meetings with Kyle,
not what Buffy thought she was.
She also still harbored some half-buried reservations
about Glory, but had resigned herself to Buffy's
relationship. As long as Buffy was happy
and Glory was not agitating something.
Ava ate messily, hungrily and quickly.
She seemed as if she were worried that someone
would take the food away and was almost puzzled
each time Tess pushed more into her hands. Across
the table from her, with Dawn and Tess at
either end, Buffy had an opportunity to to look
at the rather dirty girl and her dirty clothes. The sunlight
from the window behind her highlighted her streaked
and teased blonde hair.
The facial rings she sported seemed not to fit with her Tessian features.
"You're in pain," Buffy finally said matter of
factly.

Ava looked back at her like a scared fawn and
then around as if someone were after her. Buffy
wondered what her recent life had been like.
The girl had powers, but they were repressed and
she'd apparently been rarely trained, Buffy's
senses told her this just from the way she reacted and her
DNA scent.
"I can fix it," Buffy persisted gently. "I have
healing and other powers, "she said softly. "Give me your
hand, Ava."
Reluctantly, the girl stuck out a dirty hand soiled
with sauce from the food. She started to pull it back
when she saw that, but Buffy already had her
hand across the table that separated them. As Buffy took
her hand in both hers, Ava nearly fainted, Buffy
had briefly uncloaked her godliness where their hands were
in contact.

Lonnie was jerked from her lazy watching of the
Summers home as the shock wave of god-presence hit
her enhanced senses like a gunshot! She fell
back against the seat, her eyes rolling up in her head.
Summoning her powers and shields, she retracted
all her probing senses and fought the desire to drop to
her knees in adoration, even inside the car.
The bells that tinkled faintly scared her.
She'd heard them sometimes when Holly uncloaked to do some
magic training with her. Had Glory portaled in
uncloaked? Surely not.
The training and focusing from Holly kept her from total panic. Then there was a recloaking. Buffy!
She remembered the cloak she'd detected passively
around Buffy earlier. What was Buffy.? Maybe, she
theorized, it was Glory magically masked as Buffy
for some reason..."
Dawn stared in mild concern at Buffy. Both she
and Tess had had a tiny flash that only Tess was able to
immediately identify as probably Glory, but Glory
wasn't around, so Tess ignored it. It had come and
gone so fast..."
Neither girl had senses wide open and vulnerable as the hapless Lonnie had.
"You're dying," Buffy told Ava.
"I'll heal you now, " Buffy uncloaked her god-self
completely, not realizing the side-effects.
"And more."

Lonnie screamed silently at the intensity of
the god glamour she had to resist, but she did, somehow.
She noticed several people walking in the neighborhood
drop to their knees, unable to resist. A tiny
part of her wondered how far the effect extended.
Her fear redoubled. This could not be Buffy with
a few powers. Who was it, really? Hunkered down
magically, and physically behind the car's steering
wheel, in a defensive position, she risked a trickle
of a mind probe of her sister, Ava.
What she saw through Ava's eyes stunned her.
Dawn gasped in wonder. Being the Key she was unaffected
by god glamour. But Tess fell over and back
against the sink as she stood up, apprehending
what she thought was happening,
Buffy's face had taken on a soft golden
glow that was slowly moving down to her hands to Ava's and then
engulfed her also. It was dramatic in its very
gentleness, so as not to scare the skittish girl.
Dawn watched open-mouthed as Tess morphed into
Curupira beyond Ava and began to drop to the floor
on her knees at the other end of the table. Curupira
was thinking this was Holly in disguise. The urge to
kneel and prostrate herself as a mere demon before
a full god had started at their first tower meeting so
long ago
"What're you doing?" Dawn asked loudly in bafflement as Curupira finished falling to the floor on her knees.
Buffy looked at Dawn and Curupira's faces briefly,
then ignored them. But she partially recloaked as she
began to understand the problem. Curupira was
then able to stand, blinking her eyes rapidly as she ran
through a litany of spells. "...Uh, I thought
that she was...someone like..." and sat down back in the chair,
as did Dawn, opposite her.
Buffy watched the golden glow grow at her and Ava's clasped hands.
Curupira slowly reached out with one of her green-nailed
forefingers and placed it on Buffy's hand.
Her eyes widened to saucers, like when she'd
started and abandoned the bestowal on Kyle.
Dawn was mystified. "Why're you making faces like
that?" Then she noticed that Ava seemed to have
come out of her healing trance and was staring
at Buffy with her gray eyes softened by what appeared to
be adoration. Ava hadn't even noticed that Tess
was now Curupira.

Curupira looked across the pair at Dawn's questioning
face.
"Dawn," her voice cracked with the words." Buffy's
a god. She's a god."
Dawn shook her head. "No, she's my Buffy, my sister
Buffy. It's Glory's power in her..." she faltered
as Buffy spoke.
"Lean closer, Ava honey." Buffy said as if to
a child. Ava put her feet up on the chair and knelt on it
so she could put her elbows on the table closer
to Buffy.

Dawn watched in awe as her fellow Slayer sister
softly kissed the dirty waif Ava for a long time.
How could Buffy be capable of bestowing? Curupira
had to be wrong.
Still Dawn watched, transfixed.
It wasn't as fast as as it had been for her with
Curupira at the tower, not her own bestowal with Kyle.
But Ava was not the Key, nor was she in love
with Kyle. Ava returned the bestowal kiss hungrily and
eagerly. It was the first time in her pitiful
life that anyone had given to her with no reservations and
with total compassion.
Tentatively, as Buffy and Ava kissed in the bestowal,
Dawn reached out and laid her hand on Curupira's
finger that was still atop one of Buffy's own
hands clasping Ava's.
With the fact of their touching, Dawn could feel
and see that her sister was so much more. Her mouth
dropped open again. Buffy's powers were almost
unimaginable to Dawn.
And Dawn was the Last Slayer.
Dawn saw her gentle control of her powers over
a period as she immortalized Ava, after healing her
and showing her her true potential.
The long kiss broke, but all four of the girls
kept their hands together, savoring the delicious
bonding sensations as an immortal is made.
Dawn looked into Buffy's eyes and realized, for
the first time in her short life, that Buffy would always
take care of her, no matter what she had done.
Supergirl, Last Slayer, secret slut for love, she could
always look up to her sister now.
"My sister, Buffy the god," Dawn breathed the
phrase she never would have guessed would pass her
lips..."How, Buffy...how?"

Lonnie was in a near panic at the revelations
she was observing via the mind probe
to her sister Ava.
It was one thing to work with the god Holly, who
was sensitive and rather passive.
It was another to be near the more powerful of
the two Glorys, or now Buffy. Their
godhood was so obvious that it was like opening
a door.
A door into a new realm.
Lonnie wondered if Buffy had detected her during
the bestowal on her sister, Ava.
If she did, she was sure that she was dead.
Buffy was a former Slayer. She would
slay and ask questions later.
Lonnie opened her purse for her keys. She had to get to Holly.
Glory reached
into the car and extracted Lonnie through the open window as if she
were a doll. "Going somewhere, sweetie?" she
said, smiling as she threw the bigger
girl on her shoulder and marched up to Buffy's
house. Her high heels clicked
as she hit the sidewalk.
Behind her, Buffy-Anne carefully retrieved Lonnie's purse and locked the car.

Meanwhile, as Glory was picking up the trash outside, Buffy was explaining
to Dawn, who'd
leaned close to her as they all still sat at the table.
"Glory saved a good part of Califormia in the other dimension we were
in," Buffy said as Ava
and Curupira listened in on the sisters Summers. "She absorbed, ate,
whatever, an exploding
nuclear bomb sent into Angel's other hotel by the ancient super-technology
god Inanna. The one
the Sukkhal twins and their ancestors were hunting..."
"...Oh, my God," Dawn trembled at the images in her mind. "And no one
was hurt...?"

"No one...but the enormous energy Glory absorbed into her magic reservoirs
has allowed
her to make me into a god. That was only a few hours ago to me. I'm
new. There'll be a war now
between Glory and Inanna."
"A war betwween the gods? Sounds scary," Dawn looked up at Buffy's
face. She still looked
like Buffy always had.
Curupira had known this war was inevitable when the Sukkhal Twins had
come back with Tess and
Isabel many weeks ago.
[Ed-
Remember the time rate flow is different in the two dimensions It was particularly
fast in theirs
for or a period of time before and after the 'Glory & the
Bomb' event. The many dimensional
portals and travels of gods and higher beings between the dimensions apparently
were the cause.]
She'd just never imagined, nor had Holly, that Glory could become so
powerful as to be able to make
a living god of anyone. It just was not even a possibility.
She said quickly, "Buffy, I've touched you. If you're so powerful as I felt, how powerful is Glory now...?"
Buffy savored her answer to the little green demon supergirl. "No limit
as far as I can see," she'd
taken her eyes off Dawn as she spoke. "Glory's probably the most powerful
god that ever has existed."
Curupira was sure she knew better, but Holly didn't intervene much,
so she said, in her re-created universe.
What would happen with a god, suddenly and unexpectedly so powerful,
and growing each time she mastered
another challenge?
And Glory was always intervening.

She was starting a cross-dimensional war with Inanna and her large
array of super-technology magic.
Natural magic god versus super-technology god. Curupira shuddered,
wishing she were more than a
near-god so she could be a real player in this upcoming war of the
gods.
The pregnant Glory would be of little help.
It would be years after the birth that she could completely enter the
mind and body of the god-girl and
retrieve all her powers. There was always Clare, if she were really
being transformed into a god via
the umbilical connection.
Also probably not soon enough, nor powerful enough, if at all.
"I need to call someone," Curupira stood up, unable to get the mystified-by-it-all,
but happy, Ava to to let
go of her. "Go hold onto Dawn for awhile," she 'suggested'.
Ava was so dazed by all that was happening to
her that she did just that, leaving Dawn holding onto Buffy's hand
with her left hand and Ava's with her
right.
As she passed the door, she heard a thud or two, followed by some foul
language in an angry female voice
that sounded familiar. "Oh, did that hurt, bitch? I told you to stop
squirming and using those words in front
of Buffy-Anne."
"Here, let's knock again."
Curupira flung open the door as Glory was swinging around to knock with her captive's head again.
She missed the door and Lonnie's head banged up against the door jamb
instead. Curupira could see
instantly that here was the 'most powerful god that ever was' indulging
in a favorite pastime, crudely kicking
the ass of someone she disliked, without any fancy magic.

Glory completed her turn and smiled her big smile at the green girl.
"Got me a spy," she said and walked into the house, looked around at
the three girls holding hands on the
table. "Another Roswell girl," she dumped the nearly unconscious Lonnie
onto the floor of the kitchen.
"Who's the new immortal? Looks like Tess, too. These Roswell girls are
popping up like...well, Glory clones!"
she laughed at her little joke.
Buffy-Anne came in behind Glory and emptied Lonnie's purse out on the
table. While everyone watched, she
expertly went through every item, one of her many questionable skills
from when she was Spike's robot slave.
"One of the dupes, Lonnie. Someone's bankrolling her, though," she
stuck the cash into her own bra. No one
said anything.
Buffy-Anne as a real girl was unique.
It was hard for others to remember when she was just a robotthe n the
Roswell Tess had discovered and released,
via a bizarre immortality bestowal, the real girl trapped inside the
super-technology device in her head. "No credit
cards. Nothing traceable. Glory?" she stepped back.
Glory briefly put her arm around the girl's shoulder.
She loved this strange girl and had taken her with her, treating her
as if she were the daughter she'd never
have. Going from 'no name' to Buffy-Anne Harding, and now Buffy-Anne
Hall-Harding, had made her supremely
happy. So happy that she'd decided not to kill Spike - yet.
[Ed- See how Buffy-Anne became a real, organic girl in "Three Days in Sunnydale, Part 1 of 2]
Glory leaned over the table and sniffed the items in a quick bobbing
motion. "God DNA. Not mine or Buffy's
or the other Glory. Heavily cloaked, but not well-enough. Not super-technology.
Not my siblings...My name
is Glorificus, you can call me Glory..."
Dawn and Curupira exchanged a knowing look. They remembered the apparent
old mind warp on the
pregnant Glory that had caused her to utter the same phrase when questioned
in Roswell about her siblings,
and not know why.
"What the fricking hell just happened!" Glory banged the table and gestured,
speaking a stream of spells
in superfast incomprehensible speech. She uncloaked completely, as
a defensive shock measure, sending
out a spherical shell of god-glamour that engulfed all of earth in
both similar dimensions for several seconds.
Only later would the full ramifications of this instinctive action on part become clear.
"Mind warp ME? Whoever you are, I'll find you and peel you like an orange!"
She recloaked and looked around.
Everyone in the house was on their knees, including Buffy and Dawn,
who thought she was immune until
now. "Crap... excuse my French," she pulled Buffy and Buffy-Anne
to their feet. Then she stepped over to
the still kneeling Lonnie and kicked her in the face. Twice, once with
each high-heeled shoe toe.

"Talk, bitch or I'll pull your mind out onto the floor and go through
it with a sieve until I find out who or what

healing, Glory extended her fingers
and started to poke them inside the girl's head at each temple.
Ava was on Glory like a tiny tiger!

She hugged her close and yelled into her ear, "She's only trying to
save her sister. STOP IT NOW!"
Glory unblurred and threw Buffy aside, gently..."Sister?" She kicked
the woozie Lonnie in the face again.
Ava went wild and it was all Dawn could do to keep her back as she
blurred and struggled.
Ava was screaming, "Don't hurt my sister!"
Curupira watched all this from the living room where she was calling
on the phone. Only if Dawn was
threatened would she interfere. This was the perfect opportunity to
call Holly while they were settling
the Ava-Lonnie-Glory problem.
She reached over and helped the wobbly Buffy-Anne to her feet.
Pointing her to Glory, she shoved her that way. "Glory needs you," she
'suggested'. The girl staggered
over to confuse the issue even more by leaping on top of Lonnie. Naturally
Ava reacted as she expected.
She turned away from them as Holly answered the phone number reserved
for her only..
