[Foreword: I wrote this early on, well before the scope of things changed in Sunnydale
and the vastness of what would be the canvas on which I would play a part
became obvious. It includes the reality I had experienced up to that point,
and my guess as to what I would be doing in 2018 A.D. It's included
because of its very naive and quaint view of  what I thought I knew would be
the future then. I believed it would simply be a logical continuation of Buffy's
                     world. How wrong I was!
              - 'Dawn the Last Slayer - DTLS']

[Ed- It's good sometimes to come back and read this soleful little gem that DTLS wrote way back in the
their fall of 2001 (maybe June 2001 our time), right after Buffy & Glory returned. This was before
the pivotal road trip to Roswell and all the unintended consequences that flowed therefrom.

There was no way that Dawn could have imagined, even in her wildest dreams, that her life would
not be simply as the replacement  Slayer, but something else entirely. Then go read some of the
alter non-fictional  works and see what she became as the supergirls and gods multiplied via
bestowals   into a vertiable Pantheon as they quested far and wide, ruthlessly tearing down the
million year old  reign of evil everywhere they went. Remaking the dimensions, worlds, planets
into a reflection of  their easygoing New Pantheon.

Dawn would not face the real future as merely the immortal Key-Born Slayer. Though she always
prized the title and never gave it,  or DTLS, up.

In "Clare & Glory - Our Story" set in Glory's faster time rate world of 2010 A.D., Dawn's surprised on
a portal visit  to see Curupira now separated from the merged Tess, and Curupira now a full god,
courtesy of the clever magics of the first  true god with a navel, Clare, the former host of Glory Hall.

Together, Curupira and Clare perform a one-two bestowal on her, jumping Dawn into godhood to
join her Slayer sister Buffy, made a god by Glory in the Hyperion Hotel several of her years earlier.

Curiously, that left the later immortalized Faith as the actual final Last Slayer.
         Odd, but true.]

Dawn stood near the outside door to the Magic shop.

Inside, Anya and her 4 kids were inventorying the various items. She'd made sure they were well
disciplined and learning about money and values in a practical manner. Anya had bought out the
shop from Giles so long ago.

It was not only thriving, it was a global electronic commerce success, having absorbed several
adjacent businesses for more space over the years. The sadness was that Xander had been killed in
a plane crash several years sgo.

Anya had taken it badly, as expected.

She was never her over-bubbly, out-spoken self again. She redoubled her efforts in the business and
worried endlessly about her fatherless children. Dawn always reassured her that the she would watch
out for them as long as needed into the future. This helped - a bit.

The oldest girl, Karyn, was the same age as Dawn was when she became the Last Slayer, the morning
her Key blood had opened all the portals and a willing Buffy had followed Glory  to her dimension.

Dawn had long ago forgiven, but not forgotten, Buffy and Glory's massive deceit and Buffy's lying
to her on the tower itself; nor their waiting 5 months on Glory's abandoned, deserted world to
come back, not as a god and her hated captive, but as an inseparable pair, with Buffy immortal.

[Ed- The 5 months was Sunnydale time. On Glory's faster time rate world, this is 40 to 50 months. Buffy and
Glory actually experienced about 4 years together in the five months they were not in Sunnydale. At the time
Dawn wrote this, even Glory was unaware of this time rate differential. Only when Dawn & Curupira began
to open dimensional portals with a drop of Key blood did they begin to understand the problem. The huge
rate differential with Glory's world was eventually used to grow Gloriana up to final transfer age in only 2 years
elapsed Sunnydale  time, though she experienced every day of the full 16 year period.]

To see a Sunnydale with the other Glory bound in the body of Clare and to meet
her friend Curupira/Tess.

It was a Sunnydale Buffy still found so familiar.
Copyright © 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
A few new faces, but all in Sunnydale. Even the foes were familiar, though Dawn and Curupira's
methodical extermination of, not only the portal interlopers, but Buffy and Glory's unyielding
Knights of Byzantium foes, was on a scale that she found difficult to understand.

Dawn had tried to explain how they refused to accept that the pregnant Glory was benign, unless
threatened, and that she, the Key, was the new immortal Slayer and not a helpless girl anymore.

Buffy seemed to not comprehend her little sister's bold initiative those weeks in the summer when
Dawn and Curupira/Tess had flown to Europe and parts of Asia, where they slaughtered the Knights'
leadership and  thousands of fanatical followers to bloody extinction.

Giles, resisting the effort to the end, also was in denial at the pragmatic, but ruthless, preventative
nature and sheer global scale of the whole enterprise.

[Ed- It's sometimes hard for outsiders to understand how a 15-year old new Slayer, immortal supergirl or not, could
be so efficient and have no afterthoughts. This topic is broached several times, most eloquently by Dawn herself
in "Dawn the Last Slayer, Part 3". We call it her Speech of Justification and Recrimination to Buffy and Glory
just after  they marched into the Magic Shop 5 months after jumping into the portal together. It's also better
known as the "T'm a killer like you" speech:

Briefly distracted from Dawn, Buffy turned, "Who are you?" she asked, astonished by the
blonde's Glory features. She immediately noted that the girl, woman, was pregnant.

"I'm Clare," she answered, "from one of the merging dimensions that the portal openings
engendered. Welcome home, kiddies. Fun trip?" she laughed softly, not being able to resist
the scene she was watching. Seeing them holding hands explained lots of things rather
               quickly.

"I was there in the adjacent warehouse when both of you left, y'know?" she rolled the
bomb out into the open to see what happened. Her Glory self was patiently letting her
prime the pump to see what would happen.

Buffy turned again to Dawn, "What's she talking about, Dawnie?"

"it's about time! My time! My lost time!" Dawn's voice was a mixture of hurt and anger.

"You lied to me on the tower and just why did you wait 5 months to come back to me?
Do you know what I've done in your place? I've done the job you were supposed to do!"

"I'm a killer like you, Buffy. Your little 'Dawnie' has the blood of thousands on these hands!"
She held out her hands, palms up.

And simply stared at Buffy with her big teary wet eyes.

"They call me the "Dawn the Avenging Angel". They also call me 'Dawn Without Mercy"
and have sayings like "Dawn And We're Not." They have a cult that meets at your grave
site to perform rituals to try to bring you back so that you'll take the Slayership from me,
that they might live for another day!"

"I'm an object of hatred and dreaded fear! Me, Dawn, your little fake sister!"

Dawn's voice was now loud and mournful, as only she could do when at wits end.

"I've slain dragons, demons, vampires, nightmare things. I've gone to Europe and then
to Asia and exterminated without regret all the armies of those fanatic idiots, the Knights
           of Byzantium!"
Copyright © 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
"I'm a legendary killer and not even 16 yet! Not even 16!"

"All my little real girlhood life has vanished in these 5 months!"

"But I didn't give up, I did my job. I did it good, real good. Better than you ever did!"

"I'm become the Key-born 'Dawn the Last Slayer'!. I was made a killer by your lies and deceit,
Buffy Anne Summers!"  she dropped her hands to her side and simply stood there with a hurt
expression on her small face, tears of anger, and more, running down her cheeks.

"...Bitch...!" she added in an afterthought.]

In the process, Dawn became a legend outside Sunnydale, ironically feared more than the
Beast that had once sought her. Her name spoken in whispers where evil lurked - her green
companion, an apparition that was believed to be a magical demon under her power.

It was said that neither could be killed.

Many tried - all failed, often horribly, but at least quickly.

Buffy listened, as did Glory. But they didn't truly believe that she had done all this. They were
lost in their own little insular world, living in the Summers' home. While Dawn and Curupira
had moved to one of the luxury apartments in the building that used to be the old Glory's,
now owned by the then pregnant Glory/Clare.

And, now in the year 2018 A.D., they still were living there

Only the immortals had not aged, though she herself had matured to an optimum age, looking
25, although she was technically about 33 now. Ignoring the fact that she was never anything
younger than 14 or 15. Several years ago she'd finally experienced more real life than the monks'
magic had given her as faked memories.

A milestone of sorts.

Another was to happen today. Not to her, but at a similar age as Karyn's.

Dawn watched that redhead busily speaking into her ubiquitous bracelet for the inventory.
The vivacious girl smiled at her. Dawn knew that she called her Auntie Dawnie the Slayerette
behind her back.

Kids today - she smiled back through the glass.

She sat down on the concrete park bench that had been put there so long ago. She remembered
helping Xander carry it for the pregnant Anya. It was put in the very spot where she'd first been
recognized as the Key by one of that Glory's early brain-sucked victims.

So distant were those times.

Giles was dead now. In some accident far away and years ago.

The world had moved on.

The Hellmouth still attracted demons and vampires, who had a half-life of hours after arriving, before
Dawn and Curupira killed them. They never seemed to learn.

Being immortal had its downside, she'd discovered.

So far it had proven impossible for Curupira to perform immortality bestowals on anyone from
Sunnydale but the Key-Born Dawn herself. That meant Buffy and she would never die, but they'd
see all their friends get old, die and then their children...ad infinitum.

[Ed- At this time, early fall 2001 (maybe early summer 2001 our time) there had apparently  been no
discussion of  whether others could be immortalized by a supergirl, in spite of the prior bestowals
by the other  Glory on Clare, Pat & Ben in L.A. It's our deduction that it was the Curupiran Tess that first
broached the topic after Buffy & Glory  returned, when she began to regret leaving Roswell undefended
as the absent Warrior. The fact that she so readily agreed to the bestowal on Isabel seems definitive.
She was also the first one to try the earlier bestowal on Kyle. Though Dawn had to do it after the
discovery regarding male minds. See "Three Days in Roswell, Parts 1-4".]

Buffy's Glory, though incredibly powerful, had zero interest in this, except for Ben - who was out
of town almost immediately. Determined to put as much distance between himself and his 'sister'
as possible.

Glory Hall was unable to do anything after her early bestowal on her Ben, Pat and the internal
bestowal on her, by then pregnant, host Clare. Too much of her power had flowed into the god-girl
by the time Buffy & Glory had returned. Her 'brother' Ben Hall was still hanging around working
at a large clinic he'd started and owned.

[Ed- This is pretty much our inference also. Even in the Crashdown bestowal with isabel, where she held Tess'
hand only, Clare, as noted afterward, was the real source of most of the power and magic. Before Roswell,
there was no way that Dawn could predict that Clare would be not  just a supergirl, but would quick-step
into improbable godhood, via the god-girl in her belly, in one pregnant jump.]

At least he was a constant.

He'd delivered the little girl back in March 2002. Two-o-o-two. Two-thousand-two.

That seemed quaint to Dawn, because everyone now said twenty-eighteen. And looked forward to
saying twenty-twenty soon.

Numbers.

Willow and Tara still practiced witchcraft and sometimes visited Anya at the booming Magic Box, but
both were now nearly 40 or so. Willow was away a lot with her job, something to do with the always
competitive world of ever smaller and pervasive biological  computer applications and implants.

Tara and she had drifted apart a lot as they followed different life paths.

At least Tara was nearby. Teaching at the university.

Dawn had finally finished high school and rushed through a college degree in less than two years.
Her superpowers and near eidetic memory made it easy. Just to have something else to do besides
killing things.

Most of  the others had degrees in something.

Dawn had chosen a double major in journalism and professional writing. It gave her a chance to
expand her writing skills and she sometimes worked part-time for several of the ubiqutious electronic
media, dispensed to homes, that had replaced newspapers and magazines many years ago.

She mostly did oddities and character pieces. Also short stories and had several adventure novels
in the e-media, writing under the name of Dawn Key. She never wanted for anything, because the
bottomless accounts set up long ago by both high-living Glorys were freely dispensed within the
immortals' circle.

Still she was as independent as she wanted, though still living in her 'home' one of the bottom floor
Glory hall luxury apartments, with Curupira/Tess, her closest and dearest friend.

Dawn looked down the street, remembering all the times she'd crossed from that side street curb to
enter the magic shop, usually with a silly little schoolgirl backpack on.

Simple times. At least so they seemed now.

Everyone treated her a bit differently from when all were young and she was the Slayer's troublesome
Key-Born little sister. They'd always had some trouble dealing with her as Buffy's successor.

Buffy and her Glory would disappear for months at a time, leaving only a note. They would hop
to Glory's abandoned world to see if anyone had drifted back. Then on to other dimensions and
worlds that Glory wanted to show Buffy.
Copyright © 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
Then they would return, all smiles and happy.

Wrapped up in their own little world after coming from only they knew where. Glory and Buffy would
visit around, joking and always bringing strange gifts for Anya's kids and for Gloriana. Buffy would
have an especiallly unusual  one for Dawn, as if to make up for being absent so often.

On these occasions, Glory Hall would make a special effort and morph in from Clare for a few moments.

Just to hug everyone and their daughter, her future self. But in the last few years, she could not even
do that. Clare still talked to her inside, and now so did Gloriana. She reported that she saw and heard
everything from both viewpoints, so she was not lonely.

She just wanted the ordeal to come to an end.

Even Glory would have tears in her eyes and would hug Clare, than Gloriana, hesitantly, then start
sobbing in sympathy, to everyone's amazement but Buffy's.

The god-girl had always fascinated Glory, since gods were made and not born. If it could be said that
Glory really cared about anyone but herself and Buffy, it would have to be Gloriana. Both knew that
when she got her powers fully back as Glory Hall, they'd essentially be twins.

Almost twins, since one had a navel, the other did not.

That intrigued Glory to no end.

Dawn smiled, brushing her breeze-blown, waist-length brown hair from her face.  She was thinking
now about the brightest part of her life. It was wrapped up in her and her beloved dearest friend's,
Curupira/Tess,  close relationship with the other immortals, Pat, Clare and the god-girl Gloriana.

In spike of massive efforts, they'd never found her sister, who'd merged with some being at the time
of the portal, forcing Glory to persuade her tagging along older sister to take her place in exchange for
immortality.

In her long sad years of looking, Clare had quickly adopted Dawn and Curupira/Tess as her sisters.
And vice versa.
Copyright © 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
[Ed - In the real Buffy world, Clare was able to find and separate her 'sister', Callie, from Faith. But, as
she admits to Dawn in "Our Story", by then it had become obvious that Curupira had mixed the
dimensional sisters so much to get a viable Plan-B for the later pregnant Glory, that Clare
was unable, even with her phenomenal time manipulation ability, to disentangle which one was
her real sister. Her solution, in the same work, was to ensure that all the Glory/Clare/Callie lookalikes
were offered immortality and that they all accepted it.]

They'd worked well together. Keeping the secret within the small circle that knew.

The magical moment had come when they'd handed her newborn reddish-haired girl to Clare. She
called the petite Tess over and held the baby out slightly. Looking around to see that no one was
in sight except Ben, Tess had morphed to Curupira, bent over slightly and sniffed the baby girl.

"This is a god," she'd said in wonderment, her ball-on-a-rope hair bobbing in excitement.

[Ed- Dawn wasn't that far off on. Most of this actually happened for real later.]

The secret had been kept for 16 years now. They wanted no demonic or other interlopers disturbing
Gloriana's semi-normal childhood and girlhood. Little Glory, as she'd been called until about 6 years
old, when they'd all gotten together and told her what she was to be and why she existed.

Dawn knew that no one there had ever forgotten what the briefly solemn-faced girl had done.

Getting up from her small chair she'd run over, flung her arms around her mother's, Clare's, neck,
looked at her other visible parent, Pat, and said, "Don't worry. Then I'll take care of Mommy and
you."

Then she calmly asked Clare to let her "...other mother, my other self, come out and hug her."

[Ed- One if DTLS' writing forte's is in conjuring up memorable visual images that stick with you. This scene
is one of them. We don't know if this actually occurred for real in Glory's world, but it sure is touching.]

Until that time, she'd never realized that the reddish-haired version of her mother was not Clare
with her dirty hair wig. A facade that had been maintained until that day.

Since Gloriana's body and mind was incapable of handling all the information of the age old Glory
contained in a her morphed in mind and in her god-DNA, much still resided in Clare's body and mind.
allowing Clare to continue to act as a shadow of  Glory. She had learned much magic on her own,
building on Glory's god-DNA while it still resided in her.

Some would always be in her.

Clare actually was somewhere between Buffy and Dawn as far as superpowers went. She could
even blur for short periods and had rather phenomenal strength. Mostly she simply practiced a lot,
in case she'd have to defend her girl before she became a fully powered god.

Then Glory would hype her powers up as much as possible, to her limits.

Her limits were higher than Buffy's because she'd been made immortal from within, while hosting her
god. But she wasn't the Key like Dawn. Whatever the Key really was.

Today on Gloriana's 16th birthday, Clare and Gloriana's time had come.

Curupira,  morphed in as Tess, came walking up the sidewalk, looking up briefly at one of the new
wingless craft silently passing over Sunnydale like a silvery metallic half-moon in the cloudless blue
barely Spring sky.

She dismissed it and and ran to Dawn eagerly. Dawn was her life.

Both laughed and embraced one another, kissing soundly on the mouth as they always did.
Copyright © 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
Though not lovers like several of the other pairs, they adored one another like sisters. Living
together in their apartment these past nearly 17 years they were uncomfortable if separated
for long.

For all this time they'd slept in the same bed, leaving the other bedroom for show.

It was almost impossible for either to fall asleep without being able to talk to one another in the
dark, hold the other's hand and hear them breathing the slow immortal near-god breaths as
the first one fell asleep.

For Dawn Curupira/Tess was her rock, her anchor. For Curupira/Tess Dawn was her world.
In this place that was not a simple forested world for her to run like the wind and pretend that
animals were her reason for being.

Nor the Roswell that Tess had abandoned so long ago, never to go back again.

Dawn was not still a virgin, unlike the 'ever-virgin', but quite experienced, Curupira.

Long ago, Curupira had induced Dawn to approach Pat with her suggestion that she explore her
options with him, as Curupira had always done even before the portal openings and before the
Plan-B was actually formulated.

Reluctantly at first, Dawn had found the experience incredible with her enhanced senses.

Glory Hall, Clare and Curupira/Tess were her best friends in her first times. They helped her and
were not concerned about Pat. He'd fulfilled his agreement to help get Glory/Clare pregnant and
ensure Gloriana was born and protected. "If it makes you happy, then we're happy with you,"
they'd all said, hugging her after her first times.

Now it was routine and normal for all. Dawn supposed that being immortal did change the way
one looked at life, just like Buffy's Glory had told the other Ben in the alley that night so long ago.

[Ed- Written in In the brief period when Dawn was still getting over Buffy & Glory's dramatic return to Sunnydale
Dawn was apparently contemplating following the very active path Curupira returned to when Glory/Clare
& Pat arrived in Sunnydale back in early summer 2001.   Whether she ever acted on this is not noted,
but her soon-to-be infatuation with Roswell's Kyle  Valenti  "Three Days in Roswell, Parts 1-4" could not
be known to her. Nor the upcoming Tantric Bestowal with Buffy-Anne, the girl freed from the Bot and made
             organic by the Roswell Tess.

In the prelude to that shared virtual reality bestowal, "Three Days in Sunnydale, Part 2"
Dawn directy states that she's still a virgin. But she includes in the same narrative that Kyle was
             later her first.]
Copyright © 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
As the years wore on, Dawn had realized that were it not for Curupira's persuasion, she'd probably
still be the odd girl out. There just was not any real attraction to the males she either killed or viewed
as flawed fom her vantage point. The very real fear of watching one grow old and die, while she was
eternally young, made her shield herself.

She began to see how the attraction of another immortal could override even the hatred that
Buffy and Glory had had for one another. If it weren't for Pat, she probably would have crossed
the road with Curupira/Tess, she had supposed.

Both knew this, but never voiced it.

[Ed- This whole virgin-sexuality theme keeps reappearing in the Works. It's obvously important to Dawn.
She always brings it up in the bestowals and in any encounter, including her own. Since we now have
large numbers of  "Our Story"  handwritten pages  beyond that online from the 2010 A.D. (Glory World Time
              - GWT) in that   faster time rate world, we may be in a position to bounce it off this supposedly fictional
work and the other  narrative works and suggest a possible reason for Dawn's obsession with virginity
and the state of all those she encounters. It's obvious that Dawn used reality as a jumping off point to
             craft her imagined 2018 life.

Probably the first inkling of the oddness of Dawn's teen life is the following extract from "Three Days in
Roswell, Part 1" which occurred only a few weeks after Buffy & Glory returned, probably about the same
time after  this work was written, since it knows nothing about Roswell,
yet Glory and Buffy are back:
                          ...

That, plus some of Buffy, was what made up Dawn. She'd gotten used to it after becoming
the  Slayer. Something the monks forgot was about periods. She had not had one until
she found out she was the Key.

Then her confused body had taken over with a vengeance,

Cramps and all that accompanied them.

The side effect, though, was a catch-up spurt that had ballooned her small boobs up a cup
size in only a month or two, adding more obvious nipples,  plus body changes that should
have happened earlier - if she'd had an earlier.

Of course, the whole periods thing had lasted for barely over three months when Curupira's
bestowal kiss made her immortal and she no longer had them - forever. She and Clare and
Tess had eventually discussed this at length. All three were in the same boat, it seemed,
having traded future fecundity for immortality - two without choice. and the third without
                      adequate knowledge.
Copyright © 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
It had not proven to be a bad exchange - so far.
                     ...

Dawn did not have an earlier teen life. She was born 14 in August 2001, the Key made human.
Using some of Buffy's makeup as a starting template. Plus the information described in the Roswell
               work.

From the portions of  "Blood Road Parts 1 & 2" online, we know that the Key was older than Inanna,
and how the Sukkhal line of god-killers used it until it was stolen from them. By the time of "Our Story",
several Buffy World years later, Clare stated that the Key was at least 50,000 years old:

Dawn would rework the notebook into one of her clever narratives, Clare knew.
She was almost 17 going on maybe 50,000 or more, if you counted their guess
                       about the Key's true age.

From Glory's statement to Dawn in the hospital in Feb 2001, we know that the Key  wasn 'not quite as
              old as me'.

This would also apply to the other, later-pregnant, Glory Hall. During her recounted bedroom afternoon,
in "Three Days in Sunnydale, Part 4", the prior Glory admits that she had been probably the oldest virgin
ever. Her bedroom visits apparently started right after Buffy & Glory returned. This means that the other
Glory/Clare downstairs was probably also an ancient  virgin until late May 2001 in L.A.

Since Dawn was extremely close to Clare/Glory and Curupira, she surely knew about this. Both ancient
god-virgins were so no longer. The ancient demon Curupira, being ever-virgin, regardless of her extreme
sexual activity with Pat,  only flaunted Dawn's state of absolute life experiencelessness in her face constantly.
Since all this was happening in the same Glory Hall apartment building, it appears to have been constantly
               on Dawn's mind.

Also being aware that Buffy had had plenty of experience, yet chose to take off through the portal with Glory.
much like the Curupiran Tess and the pregnant Glory's experiments, could not help but keep such things
              at the forefront for Dawn.

Hence her keeping at it in her works, maybe without realizing how often she did it.

Her agressive stance with Kyle right after meeting him in Roswell was perhaps understandable as she
sought to emulate Curupira and Clare, her closest friends, not Buffy. Later as she matured in "Our Story"
she became more ambivalent about the whole thing, as winess her teaching Clare the Buffy-Anne Tantric
virtual reality bestowal in Glory's palace.

Of course, by them both were gods and the rules had changed forever for both - once again.]

Anyway, Dawn and Tess/Curupira marched off laughing, arm in arm. Crossing the street to the
Snakey-Wakey park as they called it from some long-forgotten incident between Buffy and Glory's
snake.

Glory/Clare Hall owned the building where Glory's luxury apartment was. Dawn and Curupira had the
one on the ground floor underneath. They all visited one another constantly.

Curupira squeezed Dawn's hand as they almost ran up the stairs inside. Life was sure funny, she
thought, looking at Dawn and laughing again.

It was astonishing to have Gloriana open the door. She was a slender, slightly smaller version of both
Glorys, except her original birth red hair had lightened to a reddish blonde as she became older. She
shared the wide, radiant and toothy smile of both mothers, Glory and Clare.

She went to school just like any other girl, but she already had a lot of minor powers. And was eager
to acquire her full birthright. Clare trained her constantly for the day when Glory's full consciousness
would transfer to Gloriana. At that point Glory would essentially be reborn as a fully empowered god
in her new god body.

With 16 years of almost normal girl memories and personality. With a real mother and father.

Her own memories of being the age-old Glory were almost non-existent, by design. Mostly what Clare
told her that Glory passed along to her. Plus the occasional Glory morph in briefly.

Gloriana adored both her immortal parents and was intensely curious about her 'other self' as she
called Glory. The tale of how they all came to be here in Sunnydale was never not of interest to
her. She also loved both Dawn and Curupira/Tess, they being a bit closer to her age in the way they
acted, at least.

Clare was too much the mother.

She was often down in their apartment. Asking about how to use magic and superpowers, or just
basking in their obvious infatuation with her.

"Dawn. Curupira, Tess..." she said, swinging her long sweeping curls. Both hugged her, Tess morphing
in for her own hug. In some ways Tess was being slowly absorbed by the more powerful Curupira and
they were more of a single individual each year, with the bimodal morphing still there.

[Ed- As Dawn would find out in only a few weeks, this never happens. After the Crashdown bestowals in the Roswell
works, the dying  Tess was resurrection-bestowed by Glory Hall. The next morning, after Glory and Buffy
teleported in, Glory almost immediately did a massive bestowal on Tess. (see "Three Days in Roswell, Parts
1-4" . Tess became the only other   bestowal that Glory ever did, after  Ben & Buffy, though she did stupendous
magic nhancements on Buffy-Anne. Years  later  this Roswell bestowal made  it possible for Clare to bestow
on the merged pair and finally separate Tess from Curupira  in "Our Story".

"Happy birthday!", they said together, obviously a planned thing. All three laughed and turned to see
where the rest were for the ceremony to come.

There was the cake on the table in the next room, chocolate of course, with 16 candles just now being
lit by Clare. That was for after the great event.

Clare was comfortably dressed for what was to be the next important milestone in her truly unexpected
immortal life. She put a hand on the table near the cake to steady her slight shaking of anticipation and
drank in the images of the moment as she swept her eyes around the large, expensively appointed
dining room.

There was more expensive stuff here in this room than the house she'd grown up in cost.

She briefly locked eyes wth Pat, who nodded in true understanding, as usual.

The three girls, she still called them all that, were talking and laughing as they came across the carpet.
Tess had morphed back to the so familiar Curupira. Maybe Gloriana...Glory... could separate them after
she came back powerful. Tess was so sad these days, being the slowly fading persona of the merged pair.

But she could not take her eyes off her daughter.

Gloriana looked back at her and smiled the same dazzling smile back at her mother. Clare could see
Glory in her already, besides the nearly identical, though softer, facial features. She had no memories
of Glory's tragic life to mature her features yet. Clare hoped that when she did a few moments from now,
that she retained the joyous looks of this second.

Clare could see magically the massive protective wards about her daughter. The old Glory Hall ones,
the Curupiran ones and her own more recent ones. Additional new ones, hinting at the full god powers
to come, were forming as Glory Hall slid more fully into her new body from Clare.

"I'm almost ready," came the faint voice from inside Clare. A 'sister' she'd loved for almost 17 years.

Not being able to talk to Glory inside her anymore was going to be strange. "But you'll be able to talk
to me for real, the first time since the tower," Glory laughed softly. "I love you like a sister, y'know,
honey."

"Yeah," Clare said aloud and everyone paused, because they were used to Clare and Glory doing
this. "But you'll be different. My Gloriana will be different. I want it, yet I fear it. The change. Will
she...you still be my little girl?"

Curupira and Dawn were staring wide eyed at the scene.

Gloriana almost ran to Clare, skipping lightly around the table to hug her. "Mom," she said,
"It's like you did back then, for Callie. But the difference is that I know what'll happen. This
is why I exist. No matter what, you'll always be my Mom. I promise."

Tears were flowing down Clare's fair cheeks. Everyone watched as her almost identical
daughter, save for the hair color, wiped her tears from her face and kissed her closed eyelids
one after the other.

She stepped back, holding Clare's hands out in front of her. "It's time, Mom. It's time to end one
part of our lives and begin the next. I'm ready to be Glory in my...our own body."

She led Clare to the center of the room. Clare gestured magically, a signal to Glory and Buffy.
At that moment, Glory and Buffy silently teleported in, as requested.

Clare waved for them to stand outside the little family grouping, They did so, Buffy leaned in to
Glory and wrapped her arm about her waist. Glory could not stop staring at Gloriana. A miracle
was about to occur. Not a deception like she and Buffy had arranged almost 17 years ago to
allow her to regain her powers.

Gloriana winked at Glory. Satisified, Glory waited patiently.

Buffy looked at Glory happily, Glory was about to get her a sister for real.  As strange a sister
as Dawn was to Buffy. Still a sister. She caught Dawn looking at her from beside Gloriana.
Smiling wanly.

Buffy sighed. It had not been easy for Dawn.
And she hadn't really helped much herself.

The rest all sat on the floor in a circle about Gloriana. Pat reached out and held the arm of
their beautiful daughter. "It's good you had to take after the female side of the family," he
laughed. "We've loved Glory as we've loved you. We want all of you and all of Glory here
with us again," he said softly.

"I promise," Gloriana put her blacknailed fingers over his. He had taken his role seriously.

"Mom," she found the familiar face. "Will I still be the same? Will I still be me?" For the first time
Gloriana was slightly unsure.

Sensing this, Clare became motherly, "It should be as if you opened a door and discovered a
vast, more powerful you that you didn't know existed. You, not another. You. Glory. Gloriana.
Like a recovered memory. All the lost god-powers will be back...But you'll always be our little
god-girl Gloriana...My Little Glory...," Clare's voice faltered.

Reassured, Gloriana held out one hand to Tess, who'd morphed back in at Dawn's whispered
suggestion, and another to Dawn. They held her hands with theirs. "Will you always love me
as Gloriana?" she asked solemnly, tears in her eyes.

Both nodded as they cried with everyone for the god-girl who was about to become a full-fledged
god before their very eyes. Buffy and Glory were teary-eyed and squeezed one another
sympathetically.

"Okay," Gloriana said bravely, releasing the girls' hands. She opened her arms to her Mom,
who'd sat up on her knees to get closer to her.

With a final long-saved godly effort, Glory Hall morphed in for the last time in her host Clare's body.

Clare could feel that it was the last.
Glory was barely in her now.
She felt empty already.

"Don't fret," Glory said silently, "just more to fill up with magic and powers. I've left so many
of my magic hooks in you that I think you'll be real pleased to find yourself a near-god
shortly."

"Here goes nothing! Thanks for the body! I love you!"

Glory kissed Gloriana on the lips in her last bestowal from Clare's morphed body.

Gloriana opened her mouth and felt a torrent of fire enter and flow into her waiting body
and mind. The river seemed to have no end. It was joined by another river from her
own body and mind.

The parts of Glory Hall that were already in her every cell from conception.
The torrent melded into an endless sea, an ocean, a universe.
It went on and on.

For Glory was ancient beyond ages.
But it had an end.
She was not forever.
Yet.

Suddenly, Glory's comfortable ever-presence was gone from Clare!

Clare immediately regained her body in a sudden snapping morph.
Different from all the so-familiar morphs she'd ever experienced in the last nearly 17 years.

She broke the kiss and looked into the gray eyes of her lovely daughter, still holding her
shoulders. Watching her gray eyes for the appearance of Glory Hall.

"I always wondered what it would be like to kiss you, Clare," Gloriana/Glory said softly. "Now
I know," she laughed, "It's like kissing my beautiful, sexy Mom!"

"Here I come!" she announced. "All of me...finally!"

Clare was excitedly amazed as her now 16-year old god-girl daughter Gloriana carefully
morphed into the powerful near-adult god Glory Hall in her new body.

Clare was no longer the host.

Their nearly 17 years of Plan-B were finally over. Glory smiled, gestured confidently and
magically, then embraced her mother (sister?) as she said, "This one's for you, Mom!"

Glory Hall smiled, gestured confidently and
magically, then embraced her mother (sister?)
as she said "This one's for you, Mom!"

Kissing Clare enthusiastically, Glory poured magic into her without limit. She'd been planning this
for over 16 years. Clare blossomed magically, glowing with a golden light as she became the most
powerful near-god in Sunnydale.

It didn't take long. The new Glory was immensely powerful. Perhaps more powerful than Buffy's
Glory because of the difficulty of the challenge she'd overcome.

She separated from Clare, holding her woozy mother, almost drunk from the immense powers she
now was the recipient of.

Looking around at the others, she said, "Call me Glory...or Gloriana." She paused. Kissed Clare
on the forehead and said, "This is incredible. I have all my powers back  and I'm still Gloriana...yet
I'm also Glory at the same time."

"You were right again, Mom. "As usual." She hugged the still out of it Clare again. "It's like I found
the missing part of me. And I'm a real fricking god again. Me. Gloriana. I'm a god. I'm Glory...Hall."

She stood up, pulling her Mom, Clare, up easily. Clinging to her she turned to Dawn.

"Dawn, sweetie. Tess, honey. You look wonderful and you've loved me. Protected me. Gloriana.
For all my life. "Dad," she reached out to him with one hand, "You're my wonderful father who
endured so much to make me possible. I'll always love you."

"And my Mom," she pulled Clare close and kissed her on her closed eyelids again. "You
conceived me in near panic, You carried me in hope and love. You birthed me in pain.
I love you beyond belief. Whatever you ever want, I'll make it possible."

Clare began to recover. Being made a near-god was traumatic, but not as bad as being made
into a host in L.A. so long ago.

Gloriana marched over to Buffy and Glory.

"Glorificus, " she said quietly. "My name is Gloriana. You can call me Glory."

Tentatively, the two nearly identical gods Glory embraced and kissed.

Clare and Buffy, entangled in their clutches, could only watch one another as their gods
began their slow appreciation of one another as powerful god-sisters.

Buffy whispered to Clare, "For whatever I've done that hurt those around you, I'm sorry."

Clare looked into her gray eyes and could only say. "It's over, Buffy. It's over. This is a new
beginning. As it said, so shall it be..."

[Ed -  This  quote apears to come from the curious multi-dimensional truism, later a generic prayer, to either
Glory,  reportedly a byproduct of the  "Comprehension -Preview"  full uncloaking of  Glory after the Buffy
bestowal on Ava in Sunnydale. Maybe it has a much earlier origin. It seems to include many of their
              dimensional clones:

Clare is Glory, Glory is a god.
Michelle  is Dawn, Dawn is the Key.
Emilie is Curupira, Curupira is Tess.
                       ...
As it is said, as it is spoken,
As it is written, as it is read,
            So it shall be.
             Now.
