Re: Roswell Series Finale (The Iconolastic Summary)

Opening montage includes Tess frying her
way thru the fence and apparently sacrificing
her life to save the others.

[We never see Tess after she leaves the fence,
of course. And she has a long history of mindwarp.]

Yeah implausible, but the writers were all
out of jobs the next day. So they left little hooks
that could be used to justify even Tess surviving for
a possible movie or something.

Or maybe they were just having fun. They certainly didn't
bother with much of a plot.

Everyone's in danger from the secret group & the military,
annoyed that a small blonde alien slaughtered maybe 15-20 of the techs around the ship, then blew most of the base off the map later.

[Apprently Tess detonated her ship last episode]

Meanwhile the baby Zan is quickly disposed of. To be shipped off to secret adoptive parents.

This improbably frees Max from any responsibilities for
getting Tess pregnant. Mommy Tess may be dead, but Daddy Max is free to diddle with Liz.

[Think mindwarp by Tess to separate Zan from Max
while the military chases the other aliens. The clue is that
the military is still chasing the alien from the ship. They
obviously know she isn't dead.].

The group and the military salvages the Isabel doing her
thing on her bed tape and makes the surprising statement  that it probably was the little long blonde
haired alien they had a security camera picture of.

[Think mindwarp - the picture they flashed earlier
looks absolutely nothing like Isabel's short, brown
haired tape images. But now the military has their killer
and base destroyer.]

[Again, they are certain she did not die in the explosion.
A fact lost on the other 3 aliens. If she was dead, why
keep looking?]

[The tape is awfully conveniently found intact on the
destroyed base. It leads them (if mindwarped) to Isabel
& her friends, not Tess.]

So they decide to sent a death squad to massacre the
aliens and their friends at their graduation ceremony.

[Make's sense. Oh, yeah. Let's hose down the kids in
front of cameras, parents and hundreds of witnesses. We'll use  what as a cover. Oh, no cover. So what?

There's a weak side plot of Liz flashing on a future that
shows them all being killed. Max believes the in-town
speaker in the flashes is the one to speak sometime
after the graduation so they feel safe.

Graduation night arrives. The in-town speaker is also the
graduation speaker.

Oops, the assorted gunmen are detected in the hall by Max, who goes to the podium, kicks off the speaker by doing an alien writing thing that only he can see.

DTLS SAYS: "Emilie returns as Tess in Episodes
3-16 "Crash" & 3-17 "Four Aliens and a Baby". "
Returning supposedly to be killed. What a waste!

 (continued from prior column)

Then Max launches into a dissembling speech about
how Roswell  let them live here, lots of double meanings (foundlings v.s aliens). Finally he cranks up the lights, blinding the gunmen.

Not a single shot is fired.

Isabel and the rest escape from the audience. Isabel leaves her wedding rings behind in the hands of a stunned Jesse.

Michael rides his motorcycle iinto the hall to rescue Max
and they flee into the night.

They are all together somehow (was this at the Granilith site?). They argue about running from Roswell as individuals or as a group.

Jesse comes rolling up in an old (VW?) van for them to use.
He tries to get Isabel to take back the rings and come with
him to his new high-paying job in Boston.

She says no. Conveniently setting her up to form the third
couple with Kyle.

[Jesse doesn't go to Boston. He takes a job with the Miami
PD as a scuba diver on 'CSI-Miami' and lives happily ever after,
fending off alligators, not the amorous alien Isabel...Ha..]

They leave in the van and are stopped by new Deputy Jim Valenti, reacting to Kyle's earlier turning down his offer of a police job. Kyle & Jim bond.

Then the 6 head west to Arizona (?).

There's a small church wedding for Liz and Max, then the van
leaves with Isabel & Kyle, Maichael & Maria, and  heads off
into the sunset.

[To Sunnydale, where Tess and Little Zan are going also?]
[To a Roswell movie?]
[To oblivion?]

Suffice it to say, anything is possible because the
ambiguities and hooks for any future are lying there
in the open. Especially blatant evidence of massive
Tess mindwarp from the moment she stepped out of the
ship at superspeed and commenced her slaughter.

She probably even cut herself to appear pathetic in the
prior episode. Certainly, anyone versed in Tess lore knows
that she is the only other alien to heal (ignoring King
Michael). She healed a cut on Michael's face with no
effort in the Crashdown in Season 2.

She had no need to ask Max to heal her.
Another BIG clue she was faking it and
mindwarping everyone from the start.

She also can fry everyone, destroy 15-20
people in seconds at superspeed, yet she let
Liz use powers on her and let them vote in the prior
episode on wheher to turn her over to the military for
a White Room experience.

Just why did the vote turn out in her favor, anyway?
Think mindwarp.

In retrospect, not a totally unrewarding finale.

Tess lives and she's with Zan.
Plan-Z  (for Zan) succeeds.

Roswell 3-17 "Four Aliens and A Baby"
Synopsis:

Emilie !!!

'Tess (Emilie de Ravin) escapes from a spacecraft the military is examining and leaves a bloody train behind her.'

Max's quest to find his son ends with the return of Tess and the baby, and the  gang find themselves in danger again while trying to protect the child.

Meanwhile, Jesse encourages Isabel to reveal her true origins to her parents,  and the elder Evanses provide a way to ensure their grandchild's safety.

Tess admits to killing 15-20 in her escape from the craft/
Dhe apparently used a new power, superspeed. But she's injured in the leg.

Everyone wants to kill her. But they vote and several out vote those who do. Later Tess gets Liz to take her to base.
She fries her way thru the fence and shortly, agunfire is heard, followed by a gigantic mushroom cloud. Tess may have blown the ship.

No one sees Tess die. Is it mindwarp or a plan to take the heat off the alien/ baby hunt until Tess can come up with a Plan-B

PURPOSE: More Tess- finally.

TESS HARDING IN REALITY:  5/3/02

Dubious Motives" - 'Tess Uber Alles' Alternative Ending

In our fevered dreams, triggered by the last
post, and 'dubious motives" we saw a shock
ending somewhere:

Tess standing on the hill overlooking
Roswell. The place where Maria destroyed
the thing in the Roswell sign.

Closing her eyes & holding her hands out, she
concentrates and is surrounded by a fireball
that flashes out to engulf Roswell.

Roswell is vaporized below in the valley.
A smoking crater miles across is all that remains.

Smiling, Tess opens the door to a car, retrieves her
baby and points to the crater. "That's one place
you'll never have to experience, honey. Good riddance."

"No more loose ends," Tess says softly, as she puts the
baby into the back seat carrier and gets in.

Then a view of her singing to music as the car drives
west from Roswell. The song is something about being
the Queen of the World, or so it seems.

Fade out and an image of a castle fades in. Text underneath  reads, "Somewhere in Switzerland, 2005 A.D."

Long shot zooms in through an open set of windows to show Tess in an expensive outfit sitting at a desk as her son   frolics beside her, looking up adoringly.

She's talking on a phone to someone.
  We faintly hear their voice.

Tess replies casually, "Tell Washington they have 3
hours to surrender to my rule or they risk the same
fate as the former Peoples Republic of China."

With that she terminates the call, picks up her son
   and kisses him.

"Wanna see what mommy has for you when you grow up?" Tess says she carries him over to a large globe on
a  stand.

He reaches out and touches the globe as Tess slowly
spins it under his small fingers.

Her gaze is drawn to a large star chart on an easel
 beyond the globe.

"Hmm," she says. "Well, maybe a little later."

 Her smile broadens in anticipation.

Fade out.

DTLS SAYS:  "Tess Sacrifices Herself?- Not Likely"
5/8/02
Tess altruistic?
Blasting most of the base to bits
and sacrificing herself?

All she wanted to do was get little Zan
(someone said the same baby as Connor
in "Angel") to safety.

So everyone, including Maria and Liz,
wants to kill her?

Just what were her advertised dubious/sinister motives/
agenda? Looked straightforward to us. Survive with
my baby. Nothing sinister or dubious here.

But Emilie looked good and hearing her say she
killed maybe 15-20 at the base was heartening.

This is no suicide girl.

She apparently used superspeed in some way, a new
power for her. (for un-coincidental comparison, Tess
first used superspeed in the DTLS Works in "Three
Days in Sunnydale" last Sept.)

Yet she couldn't defend herself even against Liz?

She couldn't heal her bleeding leg? She is the only
other Alien (ignoring Michael when he was King for
a Day) to heal. She healed a cut on Max's face in
the Crashdown in Season 2.

All of which leads us to a theory that may transcend
Episode 3-18.

Call it Episode 3-19.

EPISODE 3-19:
Tess didn't suicide.
That was her sinister plan.
Pretend she can't heal herself.
Find out where everyone else stands.
Let her rival witness her spectacular death.

Follow little Zan to wherever he winds up,
hopefully outside of Roswell. A little mindwarp
here and there to push it along.

Let some time pass, maybe pose as the
babysitter for Zan in his new home.
No one's looking for you, you're dead.

But they're looking for other aliens.
maybe you help things along so there's
payback.

At the appropriate time, you take Zan,
maybe 'kill' everyone in a tragic accident
where all the bodies aren't found.

Then, oops, - "Tess Uber Alles"

That's the real Tess.
Just Curupira in jeans and a flannel shirt.
Doing what comes naturally.
Thinning the human herd when they annoy her.-

Emilie returns
as Tess, unseen this week except in the previews.

Roswell 3-16 "Crash"
Synopsis:
 Emilie !!!
An unseen Tess and her baby return in a crashed spacecraft, with the military trying to get into it. Previes show her useing new powers and someone killing all the people around the spacecraft.

The rest of the plot is of no consequence.

Max & Micheel pose as 1950's like aliens to get info from the asassin who tried to kill the captive Air Force pilot's daughter.

They manage to substitute him for the real pilot & rescue him.
Isabel is caught  on video using her powers by her parents.

PURPOSE: Tess- finally! if only in the previews.

Comment: The April-May episodes are supposed to ratchet up the SF content. This was the similar code phrase in Seasons 1 & 2 for Emilie de Ravin to take front stage as Tess in the last  few episodes. We can only hope she does and wades in at full power.

Previously:
Isabel tells Jesse and her parents the semi-plausible cover story that Max got Tess pregnant before she left (to go back east).  A PI photographs Max & Michael burying Tess' belonging, and Max's father is not fooled. He adds Isabel to the storyboard as a co-conspirator.

The storyboard on Phillip Evans office wall includes:
"Consipirators- Liz & Tess", "Missing jeep" and "Max's alibi camping 11/26-30/2000. Real location NYC, Empire State Building, ticket stub". And now Isabel as a co-conspirator.

Roswell 3-15 "Who Died and Made You King?" Synopsis:
TVtome/TV Guide spoilers
When the gang attempts to return to their normal lives, they soon find that their lives have gotten a lot  more complicated. Jesse and Isabel argue & separate briefly.

Meanwhile, Jesse attempts to come to terms with his newfound knowledge but there are complications when
he finds himself under FBI scrutiny, and Max's "death" creates a unique situation  within the alien authority structure.

Michael takes over as leader and screws up. Max fights him and takes the leadership back.

Comment: Jesse acts like the Darren in the "Bewitched'
episode of Roswell. Instead he should be kissing Isabel's
feet for being who she is and helping her to use her powers for good. Instead, he's obnoxious. Isabel has to use her powers to dispose of the FBI agent Jesse shot protecting her.

Roswell 3-14 "Chant Down Babylon" Synopsis:
Michael, Jesse and Valenti call on a discredited doctor to help the wounded Isabel, who manages to heal herself out of her coma after tabletop surgery.

Very touching scenes as first Kyle, then Michael, try to
heal Isabel out of her 1i5 degree fever and coma.

Also, Clayton Wheeler  undergoes an amazing transformation and soon finds himself drawn to Liz; and Jesse quizzes Michael about Isabel's alien roots. Max/Clatton kills his wife and tries to kill Liz.

Liz kills him as Max comes out begging her to. Then she does a DTLS Works bestowal kiss on him to resurrect
him!

Comment: The April-May episodes are supposed to ratchet up the SF content. This was the code phrase in Seasons 1 & 2 for Emilie de Ravin to take front stage as Tess in the last 6 episodes. We can only hope she does and wades into the sleepy town at full power. And so it was!

Max does a Buffy? -3-13 Speculation (at the end)
Preempted in our local market and not shown until 2/14/02.
The head of MetaChem, where Michael works, is a mysterious old man whose younger wife has been  searching for an alien healer fo him and has been
secretly investigating Michael, believing he might be the one..

While investigating the company with Michael and Max, Valenti gets shot by the Metachem men. In order to save Valenti after Max heals him,   Max is forced to use his powers on the old man, becoming older as the old man is un-aged.

As Valenti watches, an aged Max crumples to the floor amidid flames and special effects, then collapses to a human-shaped pile of ashes.

Liz wakes up beside Maria and saiys "Max is dead."

As all this going on, Isabel and Michael search desperately for Max in the MetaChem building, unaware that Jesse has followed Isabel and is now entering the building himself.

Earlier, Liz has entered boarding school in Vermont , and winds up telling her roomate about pregnant Tess and Max. She's told, "once a cheater, always a cheater."

Maria is in New York to record her demo but finds that her dream isn't all that she imagined it to be, walks out and goes to visit Liz in  Vermont.

The closest counterpart to her is the powerful Tess, and she's supposedly gone from earth. Obviously Max is not dead. Roswell could shut the doors and turn out the lights if he were.
Max has just done a Buffy.""

SPECULATION: So the only question is 'how does he survive?:

1. Max Switches minds/bodies with Wheeler?

One curiosity we noted immediatey was that Max's ears, always prominent, but not elongated, becale large and elongated like old man Clayton Wheeler's as he aged and collapsed to the floor.

2/26/02 episode spoilers on our site  could make this the most likely.

2. Tess is back and helped save Max?

Less of a possibility. Though the special effects, especially he fire and ashes remind one of Tess' mindfire to destroy possibly hundreds of Skins in/around the high school last season.

Still, to complete the Tess disapperance search subplot and to resolve the pregnancy and son issue. Tess really must reappear sometime in the next 7 episodes (3-14 to 3-20).

Noting Isabel's condition in this 2/26/02 spoiler, it's good to remember that, besides Max, only Tess has ever healed. She healed a cut on Michael's face in a second or two in the Crashdown. Of course she carved  the turkey with a wave of her hand also. Pretty talented little alien.

2/05/02 Roswell 3-12 "Ch-Ch-Changes" Synopsis:
Liz starts to undergo some strange  changes to her body - green discharging glowing hands & melting/setting fire to  objects,  which get worse when she's near Max.

She confides in a sympathetic Kyle and gets checked out by  a doctor. Kyle assumes he wil get this way a year later.
She has visual and auditory hallucinations during her Harvard interview and runs out on it.

Max and Michael dig up the hole,,where they buried all the alien stuff and Tess' belongings, to get the healing stones.

Max only hurts Liz while failing to heal her. She realizes he's the cause, not the cure. She gets angry and reminds him that he was the one who was unfaithful with Tess.

Liz then tells her father that she wants to go to the
Vermont boarding school now. We see her on the bus watching the scenery go by as Max reads her going-away note.

Maria gets offered a recording contract in New York, but she isn't sure she likes the rerecording  done to her
music to make it  more like Britney's. She eventually decides to do it anyway, so she won't wind up working
in a cheese factory, as Liz puts it.

Comment: We have her first (autographed) album "Majandra" (The Sicks) and she definately has her own unique style and arrangements. She and Jim Valenti seemed to be singing a duet from Rocky Horror, or something, earlier when the recording rep is present..

PURPOSE: Rev up the Max-Liz tension again about his
betrayal with Tess. Hopefully a prelude to Tess herself.

OTHER: A diverting little episode showcasing an
assertive Liz. But what happened to the earlier frenzied investigation into Tess' disappearance?

TESS HARDING: Will Max be charged with the possible murder of Tess?

Isabel tells Jesse and her parents the semi-plausible cover story that Max got Tess pregnant before she left (to go back east).  A PI photographs Max & Michael burying Tess' belonging, and Max's father is not fooled. He adds Isabel to the storyboard as a co-conspirator.

The storyboard on Phillip Evans office wall includes:
"Consipirators- Liz & Tess", "Missing jeep" and "Max's alibi camping 11/26-30/2000. Real location NYC, Empire State Building, ticket stub". And now Isabel as a co-conspirator.

DTLS SAYS: " Liz is usually Max's compliant little yes-girl, even as he does all sorts of things to betray her and take her for granted. She finally gets up enough courage and anger to tell him off and leave Roswell."

Ed - No pertinent links this time. Too busy on "Clare & Glory -Our Story", & "Blood Road , Part 2".

Also adding another Emile galery soon, including an enhancement we made of the of her infamous 'hands on' topless Club Med photo. Sort of like the similar Katherine Heigl one in her gallery. though without the resolution.

It's still PG-13, by a  few strategically placed fingers. The gallery will be linked from the current Emilie page:

Oh, What the heck. Here's's a link to the enhanced  image alone right now:

1/29/02 Roswell 3-11 "I Married An Alien" Synopsis:
Betwitched and Alienated:
A journalist friend of Jesse's (Eric) comes to Roswell and begins snooping around for a story.

Isabel is in the middle of a series of 'Bewitched' fantasies throughout the episode. In this 60's style fantasy where Jesse knows all are alien , the special effects are low tech wires, contrasting dramatically with their own real powers of today.

After  accidentally witnessing Michael use his powers and hearing some suspicious stories from Jesse about
Isabel, Eric latches onto a theory that threatens to expose their presumed alien identities.

In the process he steals Michael's emancipation folder and tracks down a social worker with more stories  about Michael's powers  as a child.

Jesse saves the day by serving Eric with an injunction
and threatening Eric with a felony charge for stealing the folder.

PURPOSE:  Have a little fun with retro concepts. Give Isabel another episode showcasing her versatility. Give Michael and Max a chance to be pretty nerdy 60's aliens.
\
Also to leave something in Phillip Evans' mind that Jesse told him laughingly - Isabel, Max & Michael are the Roswell Aliens. The next time he looks at the storyboard about them and Tess, what will he think?

TESS HARDING: Will Max be charged with the possible murder of Tess?

Comment: The April-May episodes are supposed to ratchet up the SF content. This was like the code phrase
in Seasons 1 & 2 for Emilie de Ravin to take front stage as Tess in the last 6 episodes. We can only hope it happens a third time  and she  wades in at full power.

OTHER: An amusing and clever episode thay could have
massive results when Philip Evans puts 2+2 together and gets 4 aliens.

DTLS SAYS: "Though light-hearted on the surface, this episode
actually sets up Max and the rest up for a fall when his father
finally connects the storyboard to Eric's seemingly wild tale.
Let Tess return and watch the fireworks."

[Ed- Although it's not yet transcribed and uploaded, the later portions of the newest DTLS Work "Our Story" reveals that the lonely and sad Sunnydale Tess (not the Roswell one who left with her sister Isabel for Sunnydale and L.A. in "Three Days in Sunnydale" and "Blood Road") gets 'promoted'  (bestowed) to god.

It's 2010 A.D. Glory's world faster time rate, which is about 2003-2004 in Roswell time. The bestower is the now 8 year old god-girl Gloriana, also called Little Glory. She has some help.

1/01/02 Roswell 3-10 "A Tale of Two Parties" Synopsis:
In an attempt to find Roswell's legendary New Year's Enigma party, Max and Maria join forces after Liz bonds with her Father for the 10:30 PM Crashdown New Year's seniors' party..

Meanwhile, Isabel helps Kyle find the perfect date for New Year's. It turns out to be Isabel, alone after Jesse is stranded in the Houston airport.

The teaser about Isabel kissing Kyle turns out to be Kyle's  fantasy as he discovers his true feelings for Isabel.  All he gets in the end is to kiss the top of her head at midnight, because she's fallen alseep on the sofa after they watch a trite DVD.

Maria trades frat butt pats for Enigma location info, causing an infuriated Michael to start drinking, with disasterous alien consequences. But it leads to a positive point in their broken relationship.

PURPOSE: Tease the viewers into believing the normal pairing of the couples has been swapped. Then showing what reallly happened. Quite clever and entertaining.

OTHER: Excellent episode when everything else is reruns

DTLS SAYS: "Very likeable and inventive episode. Well handled. One actually wanted Isabel and the frustrated Kyle to to do something more, but it was all tease. Isabel and Kyle made a charmingly open couple as Isabel tried to fix him up and he began to realize she was really who he wanted - the forbidden fruit."

"Changing the blue Viper to yellow to help Kyle cruise for girls
reminds one of what Lonnie did to her stolen car as she followed Isabel and Tess to Sunnydale.:

Ed- She's referring to  in "Three Days in Sunnydale,
       Part 1 of 4":

Lonnie watched this from her stolen car. She'd been near their car, sometimes in front, often behind. She'd changed the plates and the color every time she stopped for gas or food.

Her appearance was easily shifted with her old cloaking power and the increasing other powers she'd craftily acquired the potential for in the Granilith chamber as Isabel bestowed powers and immortality on the moribund Tess.

She'd let them do the hard part and see if she could score some Dawn blood along the way

12/18/01 Roswell 3-9 "Samuel Rising" Synopsis:
Max is fascinated by an intriguing autistic child  & he wonders if his & Tess' own  child is attempting to reach out to him. Eventually he decides no.

Meanwhile, Michael plays Santa to Maria and Liz's elves at Isabel's charity event. Isabel and Jesse share their first holiday together as husband and wife.

Rambunctious elf Snowflake (Maria) and Santa are caught by the kids and Isabel.

Isabel is doing her usual Christmas bossy thing. She fires Santa & Snowflake for 'conduct unbecoming'.

Later, after a triple dream walk with the boy and his parents, Isabel mellows out with Jesse and stops trying to overpower him with her Christmas activities.

PURPOSE: Usual fine sentimental Christmas interlude episode using talents of everyone, especially Isabel and Max.  Max will soon be hearing absent Tess' footsteps get closer.

Conspiracy status:
Isabel tells Jesse and her parents the semi-plausible cover story that Max got Tess pregnant before she left (to go back east).  A PI photographs Max & Michael burying Tess' belonging, and Max's father is not fooled. He adds Isabel to the storyboard as a co-conspirator.

DTLS SAYS: "Nice Tess' saying she's pregnant opening sequence. At some point Tess will return or the plotline is wasted with no climatic episodes. Tess is being played as the almost unseen current behind the episodes flow, via her past actions, her child and her potential return with an unknown agenda."

11/27/01 Roswell 3-8 "Behind the Music" Synopsis:
When an old band camp love (Billy) visits Maria ,her passion for music resurfaces, leading her to break up with Michael. Maria sings several times and her new CD "Majandra" is credited at the end of the episode.

(Several reruns are next, starting with episode 1. A new episode is listed for 12/18/01).

Meanwhile, as Max's father is still trying to put together all the pieces of his Tess' disappearance  investigation, Isabel joins Max in a desperate quest to stop him.

Kyle calls Max to tell him the jeep has been found and is being retrieved. All watch as it's being pulled up to the
road.

PURPOSE: Give M&M  some excellent screen time, give Maria a chance to play & sing, then break them up. Turn the heat up on Max as absent Tess' footsteps get closer.

The storyboard on Phillip Evans office wall includes:
"Consipirators- Liz & Tess", "Missing jeep" and "Max's alibi camping 11/26-30/2000. Real location NYC, Empire State Building, ticket stub". And now Isabel as a co-conspirator.

DTLS SAYS: "Nice slow buildup of the pressure on Max and the other aliens by the initially secondary plotline of Tess' disappearance investigation."

"Seems to be paving the way for Ava to be sought out to play Tess and stifle the investigation. Followed by some dramatic episodes where Tess returns with their son. She would probably have much increased powers, along the lines of the other Tess."

Ed.- She's referring to the Roswell Tess, not the Sunnydale Tess merged with Curupira after the portal in "Dawn the Last Slater, Part 1 of 3". The Roswell Tess' pre-bestowal powers are noted in "Three Days in Roswell, Part 1 of 4".

11/20/01 Roswell 3-7 "Interruptus" Synopsis:
After their  wedding, Isabel and Jesse are stalked on their honeymoon by her alien lover Kivar, who plots to take her back to their home planet.

Learning of the plan via Kyle, Max and Michael arrive,
intent on destroying Kivar, who has taken over the body of an innocent.

Jesse is befuddled, but sort of helps fight Kivar/Kevin. Isabel plays along until she tosses Kivar into the portal and says she'll kill him if he returns. She finally consumates the marriage and Jesse has no idea that  it's the Alien version. Now all of the 4 Aliens have have done so. Liz and, apparently, Kyle may still be non-participants.
Ava is the only other Alien who may be in question regarding this.

Meanwhile, Liz and Maria discover via Kyle that Philip and Jeff have begun a secret  investigation of Max and the disappearance of Tess.

The storyboard on Phillip Evans office wall includes:
"Consipirators- Liz & Tess", "Missing jeep" and "Max's alibi camping 11/26-30/2000. Real location NYC, Empire State Building, ticket stub".

PURPOSE: Suspense and Alien intrigue on Isabel's honeymoon.

DTLS SAYS: "The apparent reality, as opposed to the scripted version seen tonight, is that Lonnie is the real Vilandra."

Ed: She's referring to Lonnie in "Three Days in Sunnydale, Part
2 of 2":

That was how the wily Lonnie contrived to meet up with Ben and later with Holly, the other god in town. All involved
quickly understood that she was not that Lonnie,  but came to a tacit agreement  that day that she had value working for them.

While Isabel and Tess continued with their 'suicide plan' Lonnie was being entertained by Ben at the villa. She knew
she'd made the right decision when the tall auburn-haired god wandered in and she started a conversation thusly,
"You're not the correct Lonnie, but you'll do. You'll be generously paid - in cash."

She smiled a dazzling smile. "Ben, give her the keys to one of the new leased cars, some spending money, some Dawn blood and get rid of the stolen car she's parked so conspicuously out front."

"Let's talk magic and Glory, Vilandra."

Neither one trusted the other.

11/13/01 Roswell 3-6 "To Have and To Hold " Synopsis:
Life gets complicated for Isabel in the days before her wedding. Her parents won't come. Her control of details falls apart as she is visited by Kivar in her dreams. Liz and maria decide to take over the details.

Kyle does his 'Isabel confidante' thing again.

Max agrees to be Jesse's best man. (Isabel never looked lovelier than these scenes in the park).

Max and Michael begin investigating Jesse, even getting a pin-prick sample of his blood and questioning all his friends at the batchelor party.

After Kyle gets Michael to hustle Jesse's friend at pool, there's a bar fight. Max breaks Jesse's nose, infuriating Isabel Amanda Evans when she learns of it.

The wedding finally starts, with her parents and her mother's wedding dress. Max gives a reception speech on their foundling status and on trusting Isabel. When Kyle comes to to dance with her later, he discovers a distraught Isabel who's encounterd Kivar in the flesh. She looks around, but he's gone.

Liz tells her father she's going to dance with Max. He watches without argument.

PURPOSE: Proceed with Isabel's wedding and introduce upcoming issues.

OTHER: A very complicated and enjoyable episode.

DTLS SAYS:"The previews of next week's episodeshow
Isabel eventually saying she's Vilandra, looking like she's going to fight to go with Kivar. Maybe it's to protect Jesse or Max. Or what?"

" Haven't we heard of an Isabel identity crisis before?"

[Ed- She's referring to the 'other Isabel' that came out of the chamber under the Granilith base days after Isabel & Tess left for Sunnydale, with Lonnie in pursuit.  All 4 girls are now possessors of copies of  the superpowers stolen by Isabel in the Crashdown bestowal incident earlier.

The specific reference is to this extract:

Outside she quickly desired to leave and opened
the door to the fresh air of a fall afternoon.

Somewhat fearfully she looked at her hands and felt
her face and body .

Who was she?

Many names flitted through her confused mind. Lonnie, Vilandra, Isabel, Tess,  Curupira, Glory, Clare.  Her body told her she matched none of the smaller girls images she had, nor was she pregnant.

So she must be Isabel or Lonnie or Vilandra.

Or perhaps all.
...

She shook her head and thrust them aside for future study. "I'm Isabel..." she said aloud.

Gathering all her meager residual magic strength, she gestured magically.

Liz and Maria were helping sweep out the Crashdown of glass and other stuff in preparation  for the rebuilding and redecoration of the wrecked interior of the cafe.

Liz jumped as Isabel materialized in front of her. "Hi, Liz," she said casually. "I'm hungry."

Liz and Max keep sneaking around and eventually are caught by her father, who threatens to send Liz to a Vermont boarding school.

JARRING NOTES: Liz & Isabel's' continued unexplained sexual aggressiveness - Tess mindwarp after effects??

DTLS LEAKAGE: None in particular, although we have to admit that, like with Buffy, we can no longer watch Roswell without seeing the DTLS transcriptions from "Three Days in Roswell" lurking in the dimensional background. We're more interested now in what happens to Kyle, since at least there he finally gets the supergirl, Dawn the Last Slayer from Sunnydale. Also, there, Isabel and the rescued Tess run off to Sunnydale and further DTLS adventures as new-found sisters, with Lonnie in hot pursuit. Max and Michael are unknowingly brothers and there is no king or pregnant Tess. (There is also themysterious  'other Isabel' from the chamber under the Granilith, where Tess was in  stasis). Makes for strange watching.

10/9/01
Roswell 3-1 "Busted" Synopsis:
Liz and Max stage a robbery of Sams Quick Stop in Salina County, Utah. Max finds the old ship that they crashed in back in 1947. It's been repaired under the store, in a secret federal facility.

They're caught. A series of flashbacks explains how they got there via an improbable series of events. Max is released after everyone in their families arrives and there's a hearing. Liz is charged with armed robbery.

Max and his father use a dangerous powder in the now empty store basement to cut a deal with FBI Agent Burns to release Liz, who's forbidden to see Max. Max leaves home.

PURPOSE: Written by Jason  Katims, this episode effectively transitions from and builds on last season, as opposed to the abandonment of  last season by the Buffy writers in their first new season episodes. Great job.
JARRING NOTES: The unexplained sudden sexual aggressiveness of both Liz and Isabel. The inexplicable appearance of Jesse (as Isabel's paramour), who was a bad actor compared to the others.

Season 3 Episode List (TVtome.com)

DTLS LEAKAGE: Jesse's 'old soul'  scene with Isabel is pretty much like the initial Kyle-Dawn scene of  "Three Days in Roswell, Part 1 of 4, on-line since September.

Dawn slowly drew her hand back, "We're your salvation, in a sense," she said, "Let's go inside and talk."

Kyle had never seen someone like her. She exuded confidence and a strange sense of casual power that shouldn't be present for someone so apparently young.

Old soul, he thought.

8/25/01 Waiting for 10/9/01 first UPN Season 3 episode ?

While waiting, look at the Curupira-Tess comparison and then read the first 2 narratives by 'Dawn the Last Slayer' to see what really happened in the other 'Buffy-is-Real' dimension - which is also the 'Roswell-is-Real' dimension.

The first narrative has no Roswell content and is essentially an unexpected hate-love story.

But in the second and most of the subsequent ones, Curupira/Tess appears either quickly or is crucial throughout. She dispenses some to-the-point demon justice, early on.

The separate Tess & Isabel first appear in some manner in the next 4 narratives still being transcribed from her handwritten copies to HTML.

     "Dawn the Last Slayer"
"Dawn - Three Days in Roswell"
"Isabel & Tess - Three Days in
                                  Roswell"
"Isabel & Tess - "Blood Road"
     "The Twins - Sukkhal, The
                                 God-killers"
