- Dawn's title for this
work was always "Three Days in Roswell"
Comment: There
have been provided several versions of what actually happened
at the portal tower 5/22/01,
Apparently the portal-driven mergings caused some
confusion in the
initial months that were later sorted out as new information was
uncovered and incorporated
into "Dawn the Last Slayer's" narratives.

Glory morphed in as Dawn stopped speaking.

"The monks," she said as she shifted to a more comfortable position
on the other end of
the couch, "couldn't have found a way to an adjacent dimension, could
they?" She closed her
eyes and remembered her pursuit of the monks and the Key, one step
ahead of the unnecessarily
persistent Knights of Byzantium.
Either group just wasn't that bright.
Both had even thought her world was hell.
What idiots!
"Why go to all that trouble?" Glory asked aloud.
Kyle tossed out the obvious. to him as an outsider, answer to the riddle,
"From all you've said
so far, and realizing I only know the bare bones of all this weird
stuff, but..." he gamely continued.
"...If they made Dawn be and act like a variant of someone in another
dimension, then logically
they had access to the movies...and also to the Buffy you talked about..."
"...Maybe for some time well before the actual act itself."

All three girls were waiting patiently for him to go on.
He paused, not used to such a rapt audience, He wasn't the cleverest
at many things, but he
had had some insights since his forays into eastern philosophy that
summer, a year ago. It annoyed
most when he brought it up, but it was something he knew now that others
did not - for a change.
The knowledge and logic involved looked like they were applicable here.
Collecting his thoughts. "I think you have a third, hidden party helping
the monks - someone able to
cross similar dimensional barriers."
"Who could that be?"
Dawn stared as if this concept were a revelation. Tess looked pensive
and Glory morphed back into
Clare for some reason. "Someone knows something?" Dawn found that she
couldn't get either to
look her in the eye.
Kyle watched this and felt some of the little Slayer's consternation.
"What about the 'woman on the tower" that was mentioned earlier?" he
asked naively,
"Glory said that she was possibly 'The God' at that time?"
He was in his element now, weighing philosophical arguments about existence
and realities,
though not entirely comfortable with the idea that he had a pregnant
god on the living room and
that a higher god, or 'The God', lived somewhere in a villa in Sunnydale,
California. It played
like a 2 A.M. TV movie.
Except he'd seen far too much this strange day.
Dawn jumped up and stalked restlessly around the two rooms, glaring
at the unusually silent
Tess and Clare, and even at Kyle. "Then who made the Key that was made
into me?" she
challenged, her hands on her slim hips.
There was no answer.
Except from Kyle, who was only trying to fill the silence, "Occam's
Razor suggests the simplest
explanation has the highest probability of being the right answer...why
add still another hidden
party to the mix...?"

Glory morphed in again. She looked distressed. "I can't even tell you
her name until you've met
her. When you do you'll realize that she doesn't intervene directly,
but works though others,
like me, Ben and soon Curupira/Tess."
She didn't mention Angel for the moment.
Holding out her arms to Dawn, she simply said, "Please come here. I
can tell you that I could never
believe her being involved with the monks or the Key. She's good and
sweet and kind. She was
helping me to be the one to regain all my powers. She suggested the
alternate plan in case
I failed. Which I did, because of the last hours' deal Buffy and the
other Glory made."
As a chastened Dawn slipped into Glory's arms, Kyle revised his prior,
rather lurid and X-rated,
concepts of the relationships between these five female entities in
three bodies.

He still did not know who this Buffy was, though.
As they made up, like girls will, going from distress to crying happy,
he felt that he had to use male
logic to try to help them out. Perhaps, he thought, I'll be of some
value and the little Slayer'll pay
as much attention to me as she had when she first arrived. 21st century
Lolita jail-bait ? Maybe, but
she flipped from seeming older to being the age she looked in just
a few words, a look or an action.
It was quite an attractive attribute to him. He was sure that she realized that.
So he cleared his throat, then added. "There's an old, old wisdom that
one's actions reveal the power
behind the action. If you can discover a pattern that could link all
these actions, you'll be able to
define the pattern maker - the maker of the Key, and probably the helper
of the monks."

Tess chimed in, "And one very curious part of the pattern is that the
real Dawn was mostly copied
from outside this dimension, when it 'd be simpler to copy someone
already in our world. Why?"

"That's a start to applying the logic," Kyle agreed.
Tess had been watching Kyle almost as much as Dawn had. But not for the same reason.
She had memories up to about mid-January as they had become closer.
but it was obvious that
their relationship had changed in this dimension with his Tess, based
on his own mindwarp victim
tale about the last weeks of this Tess' stay here.
Segue to her own departure from Roswell before that could have happened to herself...
...in fact it had been her own confusion about Max versus Kyle and destinies
that had led her
to take the easier third choice offer from Glory/Ben and Pat when they'd
come to Roswell that
blustery, snowy day in January 2001, in her and their dimension's
January.
By leaving here in her dimension's Roswell, she avoided all that trauma
and drama, she assumed.

Her life had then become full and exciting with Curupira and this Glory.
Everyone appreciated
her and her powers back in Sunnydale and elsewhere as they slipped
from one dimension to
the other to give Glory an alternate escape plan. It was like a return
to all the traveling she'd
done with Nasedo before they came to Roswell and all that alien angst.
Tess had never looked back until now.
Still Kyle had treated her the best of all, except for Isabel, who'd
saved her from death in the
power plant by killing Vanessa, the congresswoman Skin alien. There
was some strange
bond between Tess and Isabel that she could not define - even before
she was kidnapped
and tortured by Vanessa.
And Isabel had found the Granilith afterward, behind the pod chamber.
Making a decision to try to rectify what this Tess had supposedly done,
she got up and walked
over to where Kyle sat watching them from across the dinette table.
Dawn and Glory initially
ignored her.

Kyle's eyes followed her warily.
God, she thought, he knows I'm not her, but he's still terrified.
Sitting down across the short side of the table from him, Tess smiled
and she could see him
losing some of his anxiety. "Give me your hands, please," she laid
hers out on the table
palms up.
Kyle slowly dropped his larger hands into her smaller ones. He'd forgotten
how petite she
was. Her skin was cool to the touch. "Hold my hands," she said calmly.
He did. Her pulse
was so slow he started mentally counting the seconds between beats.
He got to almost three.
Tess laughed softly, "Immortality does that for you. It really is that low. The rest is magic."
"So, " Kyle said nervously. "You're sort of the good Tess?"
"That's one way of putting it," she let him play with her hands and
get used to her passivity,
and to find it pleasing and somewhat erotic. Of course she knew that
Kyle needed no
additional stimuli most of the time. After all, she'd lived in his
vacated room for awhile and
shamelessly went through all his personal belongings as she found out
what made him tick.
"And," Kyle looked into her big gray eyes, "Is the other part of you,
the little green demon,
Curupira, really a somewhat good demon like she implied?"
Copyright

Tess laughed lightly ."Not good, just not evil," to quote Dawn before
she was the Slayer.
"She's thousands, maybe tens of thousands of years old. And we share
one another's
space and minds and powers, yet we're as separate as we need to be,
but," she qualified,
"not as separate as Glory and Clare are."
Both Dawn and Glory were now watching them closely. She was sure Clare
was also, from
wherever she was when the other was morphed in.
"You know what I'm about to do, Dawn." Tess spoke without looking
away from Kyle,
"It's a special moment. Remember it and write it down.."
Kyle didn't resist when she used some of her super strength to lean
him across the table
to her. He was mesmerized by her and she kissed him lightly, then harder,
opened her
mouth and began the bestowal...
...and morphed to Curupira, crying out with surprise in a language no one understood!
Kyle slammed back into his chair, stunned by the sudden change and the
fact that her
grip on his hands was crushing them. She noticed this and let his hands
go as if they
were poisonous snakes.
Her eyes were like saucers in her small face.

"Pat, Kyle..." she murmured, looking first at him, then at Glory and
Dawn, frozen for a second
at her reaction.
Dawn had no idea what was going on and quickly blurred to her side so
fast the wind blew
heavy stuff off the table and left Kyle even more jittery, but he still
trusted in Dawn and stayed
in the chair, which she noted somewhere in her mind.
"What's wrong?" Dawn grabbed the green girl and tried to pull her to herself to protect her.
"No, No!" Curupira pushed Dawn away and blurred past her to stop in
front of Glory,
who did her lately usual confrontation avoidance morph to Clare.
Clare immediately forced the morph back to Glory, who...did the same...and Clare...
Dawn ran over and grabbed the first one she could by the arms. It was
Clare. Dawn
used her Slayer and Curupiran powers to freeze the morphing fight the
two were
apparently having to avoid being the one outside. Until now, Dawn hadn't
been
aware that Clare had the ability to initiate the morph in both directions.
"Baby! Girls! Protect the baby!" she said loudly, her face inches from Clare's.
Clare stopped trying to morph into Glory and fell back, looking a bit hunted.
"Check the baby!" Dawn ordered in a commanding voice and pulled Clare's
hands
and hers down onto her belly. Listening to the baby girl's god-slow
heartbeat seemed
to calm Clare down.
Kyle had turned to follow the race to the couch and now had no doubts
as to Dawn being
a Slayer. She was obviously the one in charge, in spite of Glory being
a god. 'Damn,' he
said under his breath. 'That's really something.'
Glory was apparently actually afraid of Dawn at this moment. Why? Was
a Slayer higher in the
scheme of things than a god? Or was it just that Glory was weak while
shackled in Clare's
body? Or what ?
He suspected he was about to find out.
Curupira was trying to get around Dawn at Clare, and was waving her
long green nails
like knife blades, Kyle noticed. He'd started to get up to help Dawn
until he saw that
the little demon girl was keenly interested in carving her name in
Clare's face.

Feeling the better part of valor, he sat back down and just watched.
Dawn let loose of Clare's hands and somehow kicked Curupira in the stomach
with a
whirling kick that he couldn't even see. The green girl flew across
the den to hit the wall
somewhere near the ceiling with a loud thud and the sound of breaking
wood.
Being a football player, Kyle was astonished at the power that had to be involved.
He was even more amazed that Curupira fell to the furniture below, was
up and at Dawn
again in less than a single count. Dawn was still trying to protect
Clare, and was doing a
hell of a job of protecting the quarterback, Kyle observed admiringly.
It was like watching a speeded up movie where most of the action was
so fast that
only when they paused was everything visible. Kyle held his breath
as Dawn deftly
fended off Curupira's feints to get past her to a terrified Clare,
sitting like a statue,
her hands clasped on her pregnant tummy.
Finally Dawn managed to grab Curupira's ball-on-a-rope hair and sling her to the floor.
With no hesitation, Dawn stood on her, one foot on her neck, another
on her waist.
She still held onto the blonde's hair, forcing her face to the floor.
"Stop it, Stop it!" Dawn screamed in the loudest voice Kyle had ever
heard. She made it
one never ending sound that caused his head feel like it was about
to explode.
Silence. Maybe he was deaf? No, Dawn was helping Curupira up. "Morph
to Tess, honey,"
he heard her say. She did.
Clare started breathing again, as did Kyle.
Glory slowly morphed in.
Tess sat down on the floor beneath the redhead, looking up at her. Dawn
sat down beside
her. "OK," she said, "What's going on?"
"They know, they know," Tess insisted.
"What do they know?" Dawn said soothingly, reaching out and holding Tess' nearest hand.
"About Pat. That's why Glory made him immortal before we could, when
we met after they
returned to Sunnydale. We waited, and it was hard because Curupira
made love so often
before the portals, until she knew they were pregnant. They worked
together and
made him immortal so we wouldn't find out..."
[Ed. For details, see the prior work, 'Dawn the Last Slayer, Parts 2 & 3']
Dawn was perplexed. There was a silence.
"Who's Pat?" Kyle asked innocently from the table.

"Our legal husband, the third parent of this god-girl inside us. Patrick,
he's back in
Sunnydale at the moment..." Glory was interrupted...
[Ed. For details, see the prior work, 'Dawn the Last Slayer, Parts 2 & 3']
...as Tess reached up and slapped Glory smartly, fairly hard, in the
face. "Liar!" she said with
barely contained emotion. "How could you hide this from Curupira and
even me? I love
you."
Kyle filed this away for future reflection.
Glory held her face, but did not seem to be angry, perhaps a bit contrite.
"We were told to
by...her..your 'woman on the tower'...'The God'. It was her secret,
she said..."
Dawn immediately slapped Glory hard on her other cheek.
This smack was like a paddle on a table.
"I'm getting a little tired of your and Clare's secrets about this woman,
this 'The God'.
I'll find out about her when we get back to Sunnydale - and you'll
be taking me to this villa,
right?"
Glory, her supposedly invulnerable face beet red from being slapped
by the two supergirls,
nodded 'yes'.
"Now, tell us what happened with Kyle," Dawn turned to Kyle, "Come over
here, Kyle," she
ordered in the same voice. He did so with no hesitation. Whatever had
occurred was because
of him in some way. She motioned for him to sit on the floor also.
He almost said, 'Yes, Ma'am', before he caught himself.
Dawn was looking bigger and older to him every minute. Only one word
kept coming to his
mind from Krystal Harris' self-titled song -Supergirl.
It was a word that he would find much use
for later, though at this moment he didn't know that.
Hesitantly, Glory told them about Pat. "His name is really Patrick," she said defiantly to Tess.
"Liar," Tess said flatly. "He's a girl!"
Kyle and Dawn looked at one another and then back at Tess.
"He's a girl?" Dawn echoed.
"His mind has a girl content, like yours, Dawn, when we kissed you to
bestow immortality
and powers. Until Kyle we had no other bestowal reference point and
assumed that men
had minds a lot like women."
"Not so!" she looked at Kyle as if she were looking at a creature in a zoo cage.
Kyle shifted uncomfortably. "What did you see?" he had to ask. After all he was a guy,
Tess almost spat it out, "Disorganized, potential for casual brutality,
seeing women as objects
not as people, seeing forced sex as a favor, lack of consistent motives,
willing to kill without
thinking, lying about so many things ..."
Kyle held up his hand until she stopped. " I admit I have all these
thoughts at some time. I can
recall talking that way about Tess to the other football players when
she first moved in and left
her lingerie all over the bathroom..." he said defensively. "But,"
he firmly added, " I got over
it and never acted the thoughts out."
"Oh, sure," Tess retorted, " What about that time we almost got around
to trimming my wick, to
use your then Buddha-boy expression, but Liz came to the door..."
"Again, after I got to know you as a person..." he replied, "and
you...our Tess... wanted to do it
too..."
That made Tess shut up.
"Spill it all," Dawn reached out and gently took Glory's hands from
her belly. "I'm sorry I slapped
you - but you lied again. You've got to stop these secrets."
Glory reached out and hugged Dawn, kissing her on the cheek, "We thought
it was something that
would disturb Curupira, and maybe Tess, and we were told it was a secret..."

"So what is Pat?" Dawn persisted.
"He's his own mother, and so..." she looked pained at just revealing
this.

"Immortal?" Tess interjected.
"No, strictly speaking," Clare morphed in, still embracing Dawn. They
looked at one another
and disentangled.
"Just an immortal?" Tess repeated.
"Maybe something like Virginia Woolf's' Orlando'," Clare stated to blank looks.
She rolled her eyes, "Does no one read anymore?" Orlando starts
out as a young man in
Elizabethan England, lives on without aging hardly at all, but gradually
changes into a
woman by the 20th century."
"So," Dawn said slowly, "He's an immortal, but a really slow morpher?"
Clare looked around, "Maybe that's not a good example. How can I explain this...?"
"Transmigration?" Kyle asked. "Tell us who he was the last time and
how he got to be
Patrick."
Looking relieved at his suggestion," Clare began the story. "Pat is
really Patrick. He was born to
Patricia in the early 1970's. She was dying of an inoperable condition,
but was also pregnant.
When the baby was born, she somehow slipped her consciousness into
it."
"Because she was an adult she took over the male mind and made it hers."
Clare added, "He's sort of a guy with a girl mind, but he really likes
being a guy because he loves
you, Curupira. It also allowed him to directly help Glory out with
the alternate plan." She patted her
pregnant tummy.
"My God, almost like Glory, both Glorys, and what's intended for the
god-girl you're carrying,"
Dawn marveled. "Why would that be a secret? We've been pretty
open about yours with everyone."
Kyle wasn't convinced. "That's not transmigration, it sounds more like
a trial run for the real thing,"
he stunned the girls with the statement.
Glory morphed back in. "Meaning what?" she looked at Kyle with new interest.
"This sounds like some sort of experiment by someone with your type
of powers," he struggled to
link the concept to their magic world-view. It wasn't easy.
"The question is, who?"
"My idiot siblings!" Glory deduced. "They were were already planning
to imprison me in Ben as
as baby. Why, oh why, didn't I find out someway?"
"What are your 'siblings' names?" Kyle made a profound leap beyond logic.
Why was he seeing
more to this than the girls? It was like they...now he'd know for sure!
Copyright
© 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
"Uh," Glory almost stuttered," I...don't remember. My name is Glorificus,
you can call me
Glory." she smiled. "Okay."
The three on the floor looked at her. She looked back. "What ?"
Dawn told her what she had said. "No I told you the names of..."
"No,: you told us your name." Kyle said. "Glory, you've been
mindwarped by an expert!
I should know. And, ask yourself, and the other Glory, why you couldn't
take over this
Ben's baby mind like Pat did."
Their discussion afterward was long, but on one thing they agreed. Kyle
would have
immortality bestowed on him. "I can't now," Tess deferred. "I won't
either," Curupira agreed,
"No offense, Kyle. I have to support Tess."
Kyle looked at Glory, "It'd probably kill you if I did it," she said
inexplicably. "You're not as
well prepared as Pat was... plus your mindwarp after effects...and
maybe mine."
"Show me how," Dawn said firmly, "I'll do it."
The others demurred.
"I have Curupiran, Slayer and Key powers. I should be able to do it. Show me!" she reiterated.
That was how Kyle got the first immortality bestowed in Roswell.
He also got to see pre-bestowal training among the girls for Dawn, something
he'd remember
a long time. It was clinical kissing, to be sure, as Tess, Curupira
and Glory showed her the
proper way by actual demonstration with Dawn.
Of course, Kyle told himself, he was just a guy, with all those disgusting thoughts - Thank You!
Isabel had been dreamwalking Kyle all this
time as she lay on her bed in her room. She'd
backed out just before the kiss by Tess. And
did so again before the little Slayer girl
did the deed.
Tess would be the one, she decided. Poetic in a way. Things were definitely looking up.
And Dawn was pretty good at it, for a girl that was born hardly more
than a year ago and
had never kissed a guy for real before. The kiss was much longer than
it had to be. Dawn's
full, lusciously soft lips were magical. She was responsive and quick
to use her tongue,
inexpertly at first, enthusiastically and eagerly as they progressed.
She full body orgasmed early and prolonged, being not only a virgin,
but the Key. She tried
to hide it from Kyle, but her limpness was obvious as they parted.
He had felt her in
awe as she shuddered, gripping his hands with a power that both scared
and fascinated him.
If she reacted this way from a simple long kiss, what would do with real intimate contact?
He didn't understand that this was just a typical bestowal side-effect
for a female virgin.

Afterward, Tess and Glory used magic on the Valenti food larder, such
as it was, to make
a passable meal, where Kyle discovered that new immortals had
vast appetites to start
filling their magic energy reserves with magic.
He also saw the girls eat like it was their last meal.
Copyright
© 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
Glory put away enough for five people. "Eating for three," she explained.
Isabel tried dreamwalking Kyle several times
after the bestowal of immortality, but discovered
that his rapid changes were not only erasiing
the mindwarp traces, but closing him off to her
own dreamwalk.
This actually encouraged her. These Sunnydaleians
were completely outside the range
of the aliens she'd encountered to date. Based
on what she'd seen through Kyle's eyes, the
Slayer Girl and the Green Demon Girl were
capable of destroying any number of aliens that
crossed paths with them.
So far she'd seen the Tess and Glory shape-shifted
girls do nothing that was really
extraordinary, but her own Tess had enormous
powerers, rarely used except
under duress.
'OK, Isabel,' she told herself, 'remember that
you're one of these alien hybrids, too. Be
careful!'
The time for going to the Crashdown had arrrived. They left in the SUV.
Clare driving, Tess
in front, with Dawn and her new immortal creation in the back seat.
He listened as she told
him all the unexpected benefits of immortality. The benefit he really
wanted was beside him,
he already knew.
It was hard not to kiss her again. He could wait.
He had all the time in the world, as did she.
Clare was explaining to Tess for the umpteenth time about how Glory
was getting more and more
withdrawn as the pregnancy progressed. "She's given me access to lots
of things, including
the magic morphing trigger."
"But she's leaving you defenseless, except for immortality, and endangering
the baby by retreating
into the morph," Tess was rightly concermed "... Turn left here, "she
pointed in the headlights
glare.
Copyright
© 2001 gloryisagod.com/DS/G(G)
Clare turned the wheel, "I can soon do lots more magic. She's been
training me and enlarging my
magic reservoirs to levels I can hardly understand. I think she's now
afraid that she'll be
sucked completely into the baby's mind when it's born and have to go
through the whole Ben
experience all over again. That terrifies her and rubs off on me. Add
to that all this uncertainity
about 'the woman on the tower' and she has a right to feel shaken even
more."
"So she's prepping you you help keep that from happening? You know we'll
help make sure it
doesn't," Tess rubbed Clare's tense neck and shoulders as she drove.
Clare glanced in the rearview mirror and managed a smile as she saw
that Dawn and Kyle had
stopped talking and were in an embrace. At least some things never
change. She nudged
Tess and pointed with with a nod of her head.
They smiled together and wondered if life could ever be that simple for either of them again.
As they got out of the SUV and crossed the street, Tess warned them.
"Max and Michael'll
probably be hiding to protect the girls. Isabel will be with the girls,
I'd guess."
Lonnie watched them from the roof of the Crashdown.
She suspected the California-plated
SUV carried another set of aliens that were not
on her map, or anyone's, for that matter.
She'd been staking out Isabel since the Las Cruces
mindwarp on her had left her with
several weeks of missing time back in the Spring.
Also missing were the little powerhouse Tess, and Nicholas. Where she didn't know.
Clambering down onto Liz' upstairs patio she entered
the window and slipped down the stairs
to the door and peered from the darkness through
the diamond-shaped window as the California
aliens entered.
The three Roswell girls were seated in the last
booth on the left, almost in front of her. She couldn't
see the two guys. Lucky for her the little Tess
bitch was...
"...oh, crap," she muttered as she saw Tess entering with one of the human Roswell boys.
A tinge of fear rolled across her she
remembered her teleportation halfway around the
world to a Siberian forest when she
had begun trying to mindprobe Tess after the summit.
Rath had just started to strip her to
rape her. Lonnie had approved, it would make her
mindprobing easier if Tess was otherwise distracted.

Then she found she was falling through
the trees in a forest. It was cold. it had taken
her over two months to get back to Roswell.
Another to find Nicholas and look for the
Granilith.
As she drew back from the door, Lonnie wondered
again where Tess had sent Rath.

Only much later in the future would Rath be
found. A dried husk lying in the dust in on a plain
near a smattering of craters that Tess had
seen once in a class video. He had managed to use
his powers for several minutes to leave a
frantic trail of bootprints across the plain.
He couldn't speak because there was no air.
But he raised a fist toward the blue and white earth
in the black sky and mouthed a silent curse
for the day he'd first laid eyes on Tess.
Then he died, horribly, as his powers reached
their limits and his blood began boiling through
his eyes, mouth, ears, nose and the
pores of his skin due to the lack of air pressure. It sublimed
immediately into a red cloud of mist in the
sunlight just coming over the lunar Appenine
Mountains.
The mist dissipated as if it had never been
there.
...
Maria stared at Tess and Kyle. Kyle was holding
hands with a little brunette who looked like she'd
recently stepped out of the cradle. Tess was
holding the double doors open for a very pregnant
blonde.
"Mindwarp again?" Maria said. "She never really left?"
They rather casually walked down the aisle between
the counter and the row of tables, paused at the
end and came over to the next booth in front
of where the girls were sitting. Tess had to pull the
far booth's seat away from the table to make
room for the blonde.
Kyle let the brunette look around at the wall
decor and then they turned to put their arms on the
back of the booth to gaze at the three girls
across the next table. The blonde and Tess were looking
for something, or someone else.
Lonnie was taken aback at the pregnant one. She
was too pregnant, too big already for an alien
pregnancy. She hesitated and tried a sliver of
a mindprobe at her...
...and fell down into a heap as crawling things ran through her mind like spiders!
She rolled noislessly around the floor and used
all her powers to regain her mind. They'd kill her now,
she knew. Power like that was unstoppable.
But they didn't. She got quickly up.

Peeking back through the little window, she saw
the blonde wave her hand. "Was that a bug?" she
was saying loud enough to carry under the door.
Lonnie gasped, a bug? Her mindprobe was being
dismissed as a mere bug? Who were these
people? At least she was going to live. She now
guessed that the mindcrawlers were some sort of
automatic defense mechanism that had not deemed
her mindprobe worthy of identification as
such.
This was gettng pretty dangerous.
"I thought it was Tess that was pregnant? "Liz
was talking to the amicable blonde, whose name was
Clare, she said. The brunette with Kyle was still
not introduced.
"If so, I must've had a virgin birth," Tess laughed.
"I'm not your Tess. I'm from a parallel dimension.
There are my friends from Sunnydale, California.
You've met Clare. She doesn't like bugs and
crawly things."
"I'm Dawn," Dawn smiled broadly at the girls."Where are the two other aliens?"
Liz pointed to Isabel and Maria, naming them for
Clare and Dawn's benefit. She didn't
answer the question.
Isabel gestured and the ceiling lights, which
had been dim, came up brighter. Tess laughed
and turned on the ceiling fans without even a
motion. "Show-off, " Tess said sweetly,
morphing slowly into Curupira.
Liz and Maria crunched together, but Isabel didn't flinch. "Mindwarp?" she decided.
"Nope, " Dawn said. "That's Curupira. She and
Tess share a body as a result of the portals
that opened and merged similar dimensions the
day after your great adventure here in
Roswell, so Kyle tells us."
Curupira rattled her long green nails on the table.
"Nice table," she sliced a chunk the size of
a CD out of it and tossed it across to Isabel,
who deftly caught it. Tess morphed back in.
Maria had had enough, "Alien machismo demonstration
time is over, kiddies! Can we just
stipulate that Tess is even more alien than she
was before and get on with it?"
Lonnie was almost hypnotized by what she was seeing
and hearing. If there were parallel
dimensions then what else was going on?
"Why're we here?" Maria asked, "Other than destroying Liz' parents' tables?"
"There's no 'we' until the other two show themselves,"
Dawn said. "Time..." she shouted.

"Here, " Max said as he and Michael stepped in
from the restroom near the door where Lonnie
was hiding and watching. They stepped in to the
veritable feminine lion's den that was
awaiting them.
Lonnie was surprised by their appearance. Why
hadn't she guessed where they were? Isabel?
Did Isabel have now have some sort of way of
hiding them from her powers? She dared not
mindprobe any of them because Isabel would find
out and they'd come after her. And now there
was this other Tess, maybe more powerful.
Both guys were holding up open hands in attack
gestures. "Tess, " Max said." If you do anything,
Michael and I WILL kill you..."
Tess blurred and flash-morphed to Curupira in
one step, disappeared in a blur and reappeared
several paces in front of Max and Michael. "Boys
and their toys. Tess isn't the one you need to
worry about, M&M," she rattled her nails
together, one hand against the other. "I'll shred you like a
salad unless you point those elsewhere."
Michael broke first and shot an energy blast at the green girl.
She laughed and absorbed it with absolutely no effect.
"As Glory would say, 'that's pretty weak'", she
blurred and her fingers were like green disks.
In a second Michael was standing naked, since
he wore no shorts, his clothing in flying little
pieces floating all over the Crashdown.
Maria gasped, thinking Michael was hurt. Isabel
realized that the green girl had avoided drawing
any blood, quite a feat for such a devasting
flurry of slicing precision. She was good. And fast.
This was demo time again, she decided, and relaxed to watch the show.
Just behind them, looking through the door's little
window, Lonnie was becoming more and more
concerned. The green girl wasn't anything like
any alien race she'd heard of, or had a memory
as Vilandra of. And she'd never observed superspeed
motion before.
Kyle was concerned for both Curupira and the guys.
Clare reached across the table and took his
arm and told him quietly, "She won't hurt
them, or herself, She's invulnerable, as you've seen.
She's just playing with them. She needs to let
off a little steam after this afternoon."
The observant Isabel clearly heard this, and Lonnie read the blonde's lips with no effort.
Meanwhile, Max had projected one of his energy barriers between Curupira and him and Michael.
Dawn said loudly, "You seem to have problems with
your tactics,You're only protecting your
own precious butts. What about these three, two,
helpless girls here right in front of us?"
I hought you had real superpowers," her voice
was derisive in tone.

"Fighting's girl's work," Dawn blurred and jumped
over Isabel and the table to land almost behind
Max. He turned the energy barrier to her, leaving
Michael unprotected and wondering why his
repeated blasts at the green girl were only wearing
him down.
Dawn swept the barrier aside like a spider web.
"Come on, Maxie," she said, "Give it up before
you hurt yourself."
Isabel started laughing, then laughing and choking
at the same time. "Who wrote this little
charade?" she finally was able to say. "Both
of you need more acting experience."
"Max, sit down! Michael, find a towel or a table cloth!"
They did.
"Show's over, girls. We get the picture. The California
girls are number one and we're back
country trash," Isabel was calm but firm.
"Let's get down to the real reason you're here,
Dawn," Isabel had correctly identified the
unlikely Dawn as the leader, mostly based on
the way Kyle had been riveted to her every
move from the moment Isabel'd dreamwalked him
earlier today. Otherwise the amorphous
realtionship between the three, or five, made
it difficult to decide at any given time.
Beside herself with confusion, Lonnie had watched
the demonstration and humbling of the
two, barely feet from where she was hidden. Unlike
Isabel, she saw it as a deliberate show
of how weak and vulnerable the Roswellians really
were without Tess.
They'd thrown away their big gun.
Of course, she recognized that, alone, she herself
was even more likely to be a victim
of someone more powerful. She needed friends,
powerful friends. Where there was one,
there were bound to be others. Maybe some not
as Delia's or Alloy as these in the
Crashdown.

She looked down at her atavistic gothish outfit
and tatoos, some of which were cloakable,
She could change to survive.
She wondered where in California Sunnydale was.
Curupira and Dawn pulled one of the benches out
and turned it sideways between the others,
filling in the booth table gap with several
of the smaller free-standing tables.
Clare and Isabel started assigning seats, since
Isabel already had an idea of what was on
the menu. And she intended to be opposite
Tess/Curupira and as far away from Dawn
and Clare/Glory as possible.
The net result was the six girls, three on a side,
and the 3 guys at the end of the makeshift
larger table.
And Lonnie made ten, but she could only watch
and learn.
